Reviews of our Tuscany Tours for April
Feedback from guests whose tour started in/around Tuscany during April.
Our guide was Mattia, he was very knowledgeable and passionate about wine, the Tuscany area and making sure everyone had a wonderful experience. Small group of 7, made it more enjoyable. Would very much recommend.
Wonderful scenery, excellent Tuscan rustic accommodation, very friendly staff and an amazing tour guide. The walking caters for all within 'moderate' abilities, allowing for challenging yourself if you choose with experienced support.
What an amazing time traveling through important European landmarks!! I could not have asked for more on this trip. Our tour guide, Antonio, and our driver, Chris, were absolutely amazing. I couldn't have even imagined it. Any other way!.have asked for more on this trip. Our tour guide, Antonio, and our driver, Chris, were absolutely amazing. They were helpful, knowledgeable, and added what they thought would make an amazing experience. We jammed a lot of stuff in a short period and it was simply perfect. Thank you so much Expat!
As a family of 4 - with two teens aged 14 and 17, we were so excited to experience Europe on an organised tour… and we were not disappointed!! Antonio was our tour leader and we were so so lucky for that. What a total legend! He went above and beyond with fun, energy and complete professionalism. We were in the safest hands with both Antonio and Krys our driver. Thankyou both from the bottom of our hearts for the most incredible experience ever!! Words can't express…
Our tour of Montalcino and tasting of Brunello was informational, fun, and delicious. Our guide, Giuliana, took my overall enjoyment and knowledge of wine to another level, all in beautifully accented English. She was welcoming and knowledgeable and read the room well, giving attention to those with questions and leaving others alone. She had an easy friendliness with us and with the owners and staff of at the vineyards. A sober driver who capably tackled the stony hills and cliffs of Montalcino, she took us to vineyards all over the mountain, so that we could compare characteristics in the wine based on where the grapes were grown, given the amount of sun and breeze and altitude. When I couldn’t pick out the smoothness or the minerality in my flight, didn’t understand what I was looking for, she helped me identify those as I sipped. She took us to vineyards that ranged in size, so we could witness the different processes, and meet the owners at the smaller vineyards. At the smallest, a family farm, young owner prepared our lunch, each course chosen to highlight the effect of different foods with different wines. I had heard that pairing food with wine was important, but I was stunned by how noticeably food impacted the taste in the range of young and mature Brunellos and could easily tell which kind of food was best with which wine. On the way home, Giuliana shared insider-info of the best of Siena. The next night, back in our rented apartment, we paired the robust Brunello we purchased on the tour with a creamy burrata from the grocery store—prepared per Giuliana’s recommendation—and were blown away at how our bottle tasted even better than when we had it on the tour.
The accommodation was in an agriturismo farm. It was a very nice place to be with all the beautiful scenery around to view on waking. Elvis the dog was a great accompaniment. The walking or hiking was tough in some places but on completion you felt a great sense of achievement. The food at the farm was delicious. Breakfast and lunch were self service but all was provided to make a hearty meal. Dinner was there courses of home made items.
