Split Tours in May 2027

This was my first solo trip and my first experience with Back Roads. I combined two tours Croatia & Dalmation Coast & Adriatic Discovery and absolutely loved both. The small groups, fabulous Guides & drivers and the locations we visited & places we stayed were amazing! So it's a big yes, I highly recommend Back Roads.

A well planned itinerary that gives the opportunity to see beautiful parts of Croatia that most tourists would not get to. I particularly liked that all the hotels were in less busy areas on the coast with lots of opportunities for swimming in the sea. As expected (from the trip notes) the rooms in all the hotels were a bit dated but the great locations made up for this. The cycling is one day easier, one day harder, one day easier, one day harder etc - relatively short distances but it is undulating, with one day with a lot of long climbs, for this reason I selected an e bike which made the trip very manageable. Our group was a mix of 4 e bikes and 9 on regular bikes, half from UK and half from Australia. We all got on well and were similar level of cyclist so the group dynamic worked really well. Our group leader David and support person Boza were both exceptional. David is a very experienced cyclist and kept the group together at a relaxing pace and was very good at keeping us safe when crossing junctions etc, he arranged 3 group meals and a local wine tasting and was very open and friendly sharing lots of information about Croatia. Boza went above and beyond in making sure our bikes were ready to go and was always following with the support van with supplies of water and snacks or ready to fix any mechanical niggles. The support van was available if anyone wanted a lift to the top of the steeper climbs. The rest of the transport (ferries and mini-buses) was also well organised. Highly recommend this trip!

A great way to explore the Croatian coast. Had a great guide who helped make everything easy and fu. The itinerary was a good mix of walking, history, activities and free time.

This tour was fantastic Solvenia and Croatia are really worth visiting, really interesting places to visit, the accommodation was good to very good and plenty of free time to explore as we pleased. Our tour guide and driver were the best, extremely knowledgeable and caring. The Adriatic coast is very beautiful and a lot of our group said they would make it a destination for another visit. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour as we have enjoyed all the Back Road tours we have done. Thanks to a great team. Lurley

This is the fourth trip we have done with Back Roads and it did not disappoint. Our guide was knowledgeable on not only the physical aspects of the places we visited but also on the history and political back stories. She was enthusiastic and more than helpful.

This tour exceeded our expectations. The organised activities were fantastic, especially those where the group were the only tourists, the sites were amazing - e.g. Postojna Cave and Plitvice Lake area - accommodation was better than we had hoped. Our tour guide, Martina, was wonderful and loved by the whole group. Her passion, local knowledge, organisation and humour added so much to the experience. This holiday was our first time with Blue-Roads and we did three tours. The small group format was great as we were able to quickly form friendships with all the other group members and move around much more quickly and easily than in larger groups.
