My wife and I really enjoyed our trip. We never could have managed to see as much of Ecuador & Galapagos and as many sites on our own and the tour made it really easy and pleasurable.
This was a wonderful trip. From the moment we landed on San Cristobal, the adventure began. After a wonderful meal and introduction to the week ahead, we were off biking and then snorkeling with sea lions and sea turtles. The pace is consistent, but not overwhelming, with a reasonable amount of time to rest. Every meal was amazing, and the entire team was fun and also competent. Can't say enough good about our guides Pepo and Paolo. Everyone we interacted with was great. Of course the stars of the show are the islands and their wildlife, and they didn't disappoint. Can't wait for our next trip!
Traveling in Covid times is definitely difficult. But, this trip made all the problems, covid tests, hoops to jump trough worth it. We could not have asked for better guides in Pepo and Paolo. Their passion, knowledge, love of the islands and understanding of our wishes was absolutely stunning. Every day, from early in the morning till late in the evening - our days were filled with activities and adventures, sights to be explored, lessons to be learned and amazing food and drinks to be enjoyed. Experiencing all of this beauty with friends (old and new) made it all the more special. Thank you, Pepo and the tour operator for being awesome!
Wow. Wow. Wow!! Bucket list destination for sure. We expected to see wildlife. Boy did we see more than we thought!! Rookeries of blue-footed boobies with their young. Snorkelled over at least 8 hammerheads. Nursing sea lions on every island. GalA¡pagos penguins. Swimming iguanas around us on one snorkel. SO many turtles. Our guides Pepo and Paolo took AMAZING care of us and every detail. We so enjoyed sharing our adventures together and getting to know them. Both are a wealth of knowledge and a HUGE asset to Galakiwi. We can't wait to return!! Highly recommend this land-based and active tour versus any liveaboard. We felt so welcome on every island and truly enjoyed meeting, talking with and supporting locals. Can't recommend this trip highly enough. You will truly come back with the best memories of adventure and nature ever. Thank you, tour operator!!
Our trip was fantastic! Pepo & Paolo were very knowledgeable, fun, friendly, caring and attentive. We were very pleased to have the variety from and experience of both land and sea activities.
I am usually an independent (non-group) traveler, however, there is no way I could have managed the logistics of the island hopping and activities to have the same trip experience. Pepo and Paolo were great guides (and human beings). Loved the activities, but would have preferred a slightly longer trip with more time on Santa Cruz for the beach and San Cristobal. I chose the snorkelling option to the Tunnels and then paid to also see the volcano walk separately. They were both amazing, so I would have preferred them both to be included in the trip (which probably would extend the Isabela stay by a day). In general, the mix of activities was good. Food and lodgings were good. The food quality and choices met my expectations. The hotel quality matched the available quality of hotels on the different islands, so I was happy with them. We stayed on the beaches, so the early morning beach walks were some of my favourite quieter moments of the trip. I stayed one full day extra in Quito and needed the time for the rapid COVID test results to get back, but the process itself was easy. Finally, the end of the trip was anticlimactic, but I understand the logistical reasons for it. One option would have been to have the whole group including our main guides fly to Guayaquil, but I would have missed the time in downtown Quito. Some of this was just screwed up because of COVID testing logistics and will be resolved in the post COVID era.
