We have arrived back from this trip. From start to finish this was a wonderful tour. We started with wildlife, an exciting and close-up encounter with over 100 elephants at bath time at a water hole, many zebra, giraffe and antelope variations. The icing on the cake was a close encounter with rhino, and dinner time with the lions. That was just day one. Could it be as good for the rest of the trip? Oh yes. We had wonderful scenery, both land and sea side. We were educated on the history, politics and culture of the RSA by the wonderful Justin Barr, guide extraordinaire. His enthusiasm for his country was infectious and his knowledge very detailed. Highlights of the tour included; Hermanus, and the town of Derust, where we stayed at the beautiful House Martin Guest House, owned by Jan and Theresa, who were excellent hosts. The winelands and tasting at Delheims most enjoyable. Finally, to beautiful Cape Town where we travelled up Table Mountain and had the views of the bay despite early cloud. We had an emotional visit to Robben Island, guided by a former political prisoner, and experienced the horror and hope of a Township. Everything was perfect as far as we were concerned. A highly recommended tour.

This is an absolutely brilliant trip that I would definitely recommend. The only downside of it was not being able to do it all over again!
The itinerary for the trip is exceptionally well planned and balanced. It is classed as leisurely and can easily be just that. However, there are plenty of opportunities for the more active and adventurous as well.
I did game viewing, walks, kayaking/lilo, zip wiring, shark diving, got an ostrich 'masssage', visited caves, went around a township, visited Robben Island and went up Table Mountain, saw lots of cute penguins, plus lots of other things - what an amazing way to spend 12 days.
There are not many long drives on this trip but even the drives you have feel part of the holiday as the scenery is just exceptional and there are lots of interesting stops en-route.
The accommodation throughout is of an excellent standard. In particular I think we all loved The House Martin Guest Lodge in De Rust. The food throughout was also brilliant.

We have just returned from a lovely holiday. There was so much variety - safaris, whale watching, vineyards, penguins, wonderful natural coastal scenery, desert, mountains, history and so much more. The places we stayed were all lovely and different. Our guide, Petro, worked so hard to make sure the whole group enjoyed the holiday. She organised meals for us, told us when we needed to stock up on shopping and gave us good advice on extra excursions and got us up table mountain on the only day we could see it!
