This itinerary offers something for everyone! From Safaris to National Parks to Whale Watching, City tours and Wine Tasting, every day offers a new adventure and something exciting to look forward to. The pace doesn't feel to rushed with no long drives and even the slightly longer ones broken up with coffee stops and viewpoints. The East Head Viewpont in Kynesa being a particular highlight of mine! You meet some lovely locals including the charming owners full of stories at St Martin's guesthouse and whale watching off the shore line in Hermanus was truly one of the most amazing sites seeing so many whales congregated in the same place breaching and teaching their young to strengthen their fins before heading across to Antarctica to feed. I choose to travel in South Africa's Spring time because I really wanted to see the Whales migrating in Hermanus, little did I realise but it's also an excellent time to visit because all the flowers are in bloom so the drives were really stunning, our guide even mentioned that he hadn't seen the landscapes so green. If you're looking for a leisurely paced trip with a passion for wildlife, landscapes, food and wine then this ones a winner!
Excellent accommodation, well organised, fabulous experiences . Our guide, Petro, was fantastic, not only making sure all arrangements in order but also sharing with us her in-depth knowledge of South Africa's history & culture
I see Caroline & Chris have already completed a review which has saved me writing anything as I whole heartedly agree with what they have submitted! This was my 6th trip with Exodus and it rated favourably with all the others. I think you can rely on consistency with Exodus. If you don't want to have to think about what you are going to do the next day or where you are going to eat or even what you need to wear on your feet then choose Exodus!
First group tour for me and I was relieved to find I loved it! My husband had done charity group trips before but not a ‘holiday’. Very varied in terms of accommodation styles, experiences, landscape, seascape and people on the trip - both on the minibus and locals. Excellent guide too!
Have just returned from a truly memorable trip to South Africa from Port Elizabeth through the Garden route/ winelands into Cape Town. The holiday was absolutely wonderful mainly due I'm sure to our wonderful guide Justin Barr.He showed us the true Africa not the touristy one!. He is so passionate about his country you couldn't be anything but inspired by what you experienced. There was such a variation in the itinerary that you came away at the end of the trip with a true understanding of the country. I was nervous before travelling as I was a single traveller of 75 years, but I needn't have worried as Justin made sure I was ok at all times. The other travellers in the group were all like minded and we all gelled really well. I can't praise Exodus enough for putting together such a wonderful itinerary and providing us with such a caring and knowledgeable guide. I look forward to travelling with them again to another far flung country!!!
Just returned from this amazing trip. There was so much variety, from stunning landscapes to understanding life in the townships. We watched whales at Hermanos and climbed to see wonderful vistas on table mountain and the Cape of good hope. Our guide Justin was superb. He was able to lend real insight into the troubles and history of his beautiful country. He was so well organised and was a lovely person to be around. The day at Robbin Island, followed by a visit to the Townships was a humbling and emotional day with a lot of feelings to process. Our accommodation was all good. I loved staying in the huts at Wilderness, and dinning with the family at the guest house at De Rust was very special. Would highly recommend this tour.
