Trip was excellent. Tour Guide, Gus, was fantastic, very knowledgeable, great communicator, and made sure all of our needs were met. Food and wine tour could not have been better. Never really liked many wines but the tastings proved me wrong. The agricultural farms were great and the food fresh and abundant. Villages were quaint. Castle was very interesting - 34 generations living in it and continuously running a vineyard and producing wine since 1141 is unbelievable! Looking into another food tour in another country. Gave accommodations less rating because hotels were in old buildings and they made due with space available: 1) First 2 nights in Hotel Bologna, the room was very, very small and had 2 twin beds aligned in tandem against one wall - would not have fit any other way, 2) Hotel Le Cisterna, last 3 nights, walls were so thin we could hear every word people next door said.
A fantastic week in Tuscany, the family who ran the Agriturismo were delightful and could not be more friendly, considerate and helpful. The accommodation is fairly basic, but clean and comfortable (as expected). We were worried prior to the trip about the weather, but it turned out to be sunny most of the week! The itinery was just amazing, varied and with some quite incredible walks; especially the last day hiking up Monte Sumbra - unforgetable! The walking group was a great cross section of people, and many laughs were had over the week.....all I can say is it is a 'must do' trip!
A wonderful experience walking and sightseeing in the Garfognana area, Tuscany. Staying at a picturesque, comfortable family run Agricultural Farmhouse. Very friendly, hardworking staff providing us with homemade food and wine. A friendly group of 12 and a very experienced and personable walk leader.
10 days is the perfect amount of time, any longer and we would have been exhausted! We would absolutely do another Expat tour! Going to see all of the countries in a small amount of time seems like it would be rushed, but it was actually perfect. We got to see all of the highlights of everything that we wanted. Our tour leader gave great explanations of each of the countries and their unique history and landmarks. We were a little leery about driving on the bus so much, but it was actually a great time to rest and enjoy the amazing views. The coach that we rode on was clean, cool and the chairs recline for a nap! Our bus driver Florentine was amazing!! We were also leery about doing this tour, because there weren't that many reviews, but we are so glad that we did.
This was our first time to Europe and it did not disappoint! Right from day 1 the fun started! Jared was our tour leader, if you ever get the chance to tour with him, you are lucky. He was fantastic!!! His knowledge of the places we stopped was expansive and he made it interesting to learn the history! Florentin our driver was a rock for us! He got us safely to our destinations and always had a smile on his face! We forged friendships on this tour that made this the most memorable trip! We laughed a lot !!! I am so glad my daughter and I were lucky enough to have such an amazing tour leader, driver and fellow travellers that only made all the amazing places we saw, better! Thank you
I thoroughly enjoyed the Expat Europe tour! The tour guide, Jared, did an amazing job at ensuring that we all had an exceptional experience. His knowledge, passion and dedication to traveling really shines through in his work. He is very efficient and organized and made sure we had an amazing experience. Jared went above and beyond to make it a memorable experience for all of us. He served us our included meals himself (due to lack of servers at the restaurants). He is a true asset to the Expat family. Floretine, our driver, played a vital role in making sure we had a smooth and safe drive to all of our destinations. He loaded and unloaded all of our luggage. They both actively interacted with the group and made all of us feel welcomed and at ease. The destinations were all excellent.
