Just returned from a small group tour around the south of France and had a wonderful experience. Good blend of walking days and slower days. Be prepared for some small hotel rooms, though. Tour guide and driver were outstanding, felt very informed and safe the whole trip.

Perfect combination of walking and gardens

Mixed walks along the stunning French Riviera coastline coupled with visits to some of the most famous gardens in the region. Opportunity to learn about the history of the area and a must for garden lovers. Warm enough to swim in peaceful Med sea in October. Menton, the resort were stayed throughout our trip, retains the atmosphere of genteel aristocratic tourism. The Italian influence is strong as the town is just a few kilometres from the Italian border. Most of the restaurants serve Italian food.

Favorite day was in Provence when we toured the goat farm and had a wine and cheese tasting experience with the chef. Then went to the chef's villa and had a gourmet lunch, and met Ricky the truffle hunting pig. Our tour group went a round the table and each told us about our life experiences. A nice bonding moment. Or maybe it was the drive along the beautiful French Riviera to the Rothschild Mansion where we had lunch. Oh, wait I forgot about the perfume making and the walking around the old French hilltop villages. Too many great experiences to get them all in. Also, a shoutout to our wonderful tour guide, Maya Pashpurova, who really made this an unforgettable trip for all of us.

I booked at the last minute as my plans had changed. This tour happened to fit in with my dates and luckily I was accepted to travel. I didn’t fully check what the tour comprised of but saw it went to most of the places I had wanted to see. It didn’t disappoint and was fantastic from the start. Well chosen restaurants for our group dinners and each day took us to a variety of ‘wow’ locations. Can’t go wrong with small Provence villages, winery and olive farm tours, spectacular views, great food, along with following in the footsteps of great painters such as Cezanne and Van Gogh - and of course the opportunity for shopping. Our great guide Davide brought it all together being both relaxed and interested in us all while still imparting wisdom and getting us on time to all the fabulous places and accommodation. Plus great driving from Ervins on some pretty crazy roads!Accommodation was varied but still clean and had everything we needed. Highlights for me were the Pont du Gare, picnic under the olive trees, and the stunning views through the Gorge Verdon - and of course our guide Davide and the lovely, fun group of fellow travellers. Thanks Back Roads.

Walking in the French Riviera is a must!

I recently enjoyed this fantastic walking tour with Exodus! We were based in the charming town of Menton, perfectly positioned to explore the stunning French Riviera. Surrounded by so much history, and some of the best coastal views and of course some of the best Mediterranean food. The variety of walks offered breathtaking views from the coastal capes to forest and limestone paths. Hiking Mont Bastide was a highlight for me - once you summit, and on a very clear day you can see everything from the sea views to the amazing maritime Alps in France and Italy. Exploring Eze, was my absolute favourite village. A fairy-tale town with enchanting cobblestone streets and historical charm with its hilltop garden and views of the sea were captivating. Treated myself at the local Perfume shop for a nice keepsake. The diverse gardens throughout the region were a delightful surprise, particularly the terraced garden of Serre de la Madone with a serene escape. So happy I got to enjoy so much of the Riviera over the week and what is has to offer!

Amazing time

"My group of 6 and I had an amazing time. This was our first time doing this and she made us all feel so comfortable and welcome during the tour. She was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the information but especially the views of this beautiful city. Thanks again Elena!
