Reviews of our Naples Tours for May
Feedback from guests whose tour started in/around Naples during May.
Great tour. Group of 12 worked well - more like a large family than a tour group. Our amazing guide, Francesca, looked after us really well and there were no major problems at all. Activities and hotels were all top notch. The highlight, of many, would have to be the cave hotel at Matera. If you are thinking of going to Puglia I’d suggest giving Back Roads a go.
I have visited Italy with Back Roads previously and loved it. I loved it again! Puglia is different to other parts of Italy (at least in my experience) The walking tours were sometimes more challenging than I remember from past tours but not necessarily a bad thing, at least for me. Our small group got along well together; our Tour Leader Flavio, was great! An Italian who had lived in Australia for a time, he understood our Aussie sense of humour and there was quite a bit of banter back and forth. He was always focussed on keeping us safe and was very knowledgeable. Our accommodation varied from palazzos with all mod cons, to up to the minute villas and even caves! Sometimes, right in the centre of the city to a little out of the way, but always interesting. Our mini bus was modern and clean and our driver got us from one place to the next safely and on time. We ate, drank, learned, laughed, occasionally grumbled, travelled and found new friends together.
This tour hit all the major spots in the Naples area – from coastal gems to historical ruins. I loved our free time in Sorrento and the visit to the Limoncello factory. Everything was smooth and enjoyable.
Absolutely extraordinary experience from start to end! Amazing hikes, interesting evening experiences, warm community with farm stay. Great group and amazing views, truly once in a lifetime experience! Positano, Capri, Amalfi, Ravello - all amazing places I would return to in a heartbeat. Don't miss the lemon sorbet (in a real sorrento lemon), truly awesome flavor!
Varied itinerary which packed alot in -,ravello ,almafi ,Capri and postillano . Some interesting museums in almafi medieval paper mill ,top of the main street and medieval boat yard -close to bus station great walks with a local excellent guide including the walk of the gods - a stunning day . It's hilly, so some steep up sections and lots of steps . Can be cool, rainy and foggy so take clothes for all conditions ,mostly good weather for us . Excellent food at the hotel, comfortable clean rooms with a lovely terrace .no lift . A day off with the option of an organised trip with a guide to Herculaneum and Pompeii ,a bit pricey at 125 euros or you can visit them your self, we did Herculaneum - 26 euros total cost - no guide and apx 5 hours total travel - or go to sortento, both on public transport or visit villa popea at torre annunizarta ( no doubt not spelt correctly ) for all locations get the bus to casselmare de stabia and then train ,the bus back can leave from 1 of 2 locations, check the time table .one location is at the bakery in the square with the station in - .no bus stop -wave at the driver
Our guide Michele M was the best. He made sure we got a lot of info and had fun on our tours. Giulio was the best. He was so perfect in his driving. I felt safe all the time. Loved all the places we went and 99% of the other people in our group were fun and friendly. I was a bit worried before we started but that soon faded as we started our adventure. Loved every bit of it.
