Words and photos will never be able to describe the phenomenal experience I had on the Classic Inca trail to Machu Picchu with this agency. You must request Teddy and Gregory as your guides along with Chef Cecilio and Head Porter Eugenio. This crew was outstanding and made my trip. Teddy and Gregory are the most amazing humans! They have so much sincerity to ensure you not only have a safe hike, but a fun journey. They are knowledgeable and have great historical facts and stories along the trail, they always have a positive attitude, and their encouragement to keep pushing gives you faith that you can make it - these two made you look forward to what was ahead (and let me tell you, it was challenging!) Chef Cecilio prepared outstanding meals morning, noon and night. You were never hungry and the variety was mind blowing considering we were in the middle of the mountains! Eugenio and his crew of porters - WOW! These porters are in charge of setup, teardown, and carrying everything (tents, your pack, food, toilet, etc,) from base to base. They are swift - waking up before us and going to sleep after us, the kindest, and work so incredibly hard to ensure you have everything you could need and more. I was blessed to be paired with 13 incredible humans from around the world. We all bonded so well and rallied each other when we saw the trail trying to defeat us. I know lifelong friends were made on this trip. Our weather could not have been more spectacular with the exception of a few hours on the final day, where is rained all the way to Machu Picchu before the sun shined over the ruins! I'm not an experienced hiker at all. This was my first hike ever. I didn't train, I booked 10 days before the hike, and truthfully, if it wasn't for everyone mentioned above, I would have never competed the hike. It was that mentally and physically challenging for me. Surrounded by the right people you can do anything!! Now, book your classic Inca trail hike with this travel specialist, I guarantee you won't regret it
"Lizandro and Valentine were our guides for the tour and they were the best. Walter was our head chef. All the positives of the trip on why this is a 5 star review * lizandro and valentine always told us exactly what to expect the day before. A 45 min hike is a 45 min hike. * they told us how to be first to get into machu picchu and we were the first ones. We got great photos while everyone else had to wait in line at the sun gate. * when we were missing an air matress to needed more toilet paper (absolute necessity) they hooked it up. Problem solved. * I never liked history, but they kept the infosessions interesting. Learning about all the Inca ruins. If I saw them myself, it would've just been a cool structure. But they educate you on the purpose, timelines, etc. * they were willing to listen to extra requests from the group and accommodate them, which I think is absolutely extraordinary. One of the members from our group wanted to stray from the itinerary and they accommodated her for it. * the camping experience was made easy. Porters carried duffle bags for you which allowed you to pack light on the hike. They also set up the tents and took it down so it's minimal touch. * the food that was cooked which was breakfast lunch and dinner was gourmet. We had 4-5 dishes of different foods for each meal. Enough to keep everyone full, and the food tasted phenomenal * hikes were rough, but the guides knew exactly when to take stops to let everyone take a breath. When times were tough a break was taken to drink water and remove a layer of clothing * the recommendations for layers were spot on. If they say to wear a jacket and hat it means so. They knrw when the sun was coming up so they also knew when to keep your clothes on or take it off. * they were amazing photographers where they knew all the spots to take a photo. Cons * camp bathrooms were always dirty (but our guides made sure we made it to camp first and that's when bathrooms were cleanest)"
"I want to sincerely express my greatest gratitude to this tour company for the wonderful trip we experienced (Classic Inca Trail 4D/3N). If the weather conditions cannot be planned, be sure that all the rest is carefully anticipated by ""The Green Machine"". I did many hikes, I never experienced such level of professionalism, led by our main guide José and head chef Sergio, who I both specially want to thank, and all our porters that made an incredible job to create all the perfect conditions you would never believe. All you have to do is to follow this wonderful journey, listen and learn about this wonderful culture and nature. These people are passionate about what they do, and you can feel it."
We booked this tour after learning that Inca trail passes were sold out for our dates. However I don't regret a bit of choosing this tour as we experienced a real beauty of Peru far from the touristy paths. Our guide Wilfredo was amazing. He shared with us a lot of interesting facts about Inca's people and their culture. The hike was quite challenging for me personally but with his help and support I got through it with the minimal discomfort. I highly recommend bringing rainproof jackets or ponchos on the trip regardless of how nice the weather seems to be. We got tricked by the sunny morning and were soaked in the afternoon. Also it gets very very cold in the mountains at night. Please layer up and have pair of gloves on you. SPF is a must thing to use even on a cloudy day. My nose got burned from the cold wind and a sun and starting peeling. Bring coca candies or leaves with you. Helps a lot with the altitude sickness. Overall me and my friend were very happy with the trip!
You coordinated the land content, local transfers and flights to make it a smooth trip with minimal overlaps and provided good contact details for us to use if we were in difficulty. Our favourite hotel was Aranwa Scared Valley. The hotel was very well designed. The rooms were spacious, modern and had all the extras you would see in a good 5 star hotel. The grounds were well maintained and the landscaping was very interesting. Besides a theatre with evening shows and popcorn, there was an art gallery, well restored church, great pool area and many dining options. The staff were always helpful and worked well with our travel agent manage our bags left behind. The day trip to Machu Picchu, was the best!
The people who were supposed to meet us at airports were always there to pick us up. It is important to come out of the terminal and find that someone is already there and you are not going to be hanging around wondering if the pickup is going to show up. All the hotels were very good except for the first hotel upon our arrival in Lima from the states. That was the El Tambo II which was the pits. Other than that you made good hotel Picks with Casa Sur Palermo in Buenos Aires the best of the bunch. All excursions were good but we liked Machu Picchu; and Iguazu Falls best. One suggestion: Guides should not assume that because we look old we should cut things short. Ask us if we are tired or willing to go on and tell us what is ahead if we choose to go on. Let us make the decision to continue or cut things short. We found we missed some things because of that.
