An amazing walking experience in some of the most spectacular and awe inspiring scenery. Photos really don’t do it justice! Camping isn’t my favourite accommodation but the scenery and experience made up for it. You do need to be prepared to do your bit with food prep, washing up and packing up each day but that helps the group bond. Loved the trip and would highly recommend it.
A fascinating introduction to the varied landscape of Iceland's interior with a good range of trekking experiences. Walking through snow clad mountains, black volcanic sand, ice clad glaciers and magnificent waterfalls.
This was an unexpectedly challenging trek across a mix of terrains in the Laugavegur region of Iceland - not only did our group experience the most stunning & variable scenery but equally a variable mix of weather conditions & the unexpected evacuation of camp at speed due to extreme wind conditions that started to uplift our overnight accommodation - & a colleague's possessions ….
A five day walk through the land that allegedly inspired JRR Tolkien to write "Lord of the Rings". Go on your own journey to return your own one ring to Mount Doom. More volcanoes than you can count on both hands but no Orc's. Iceland has quite a high rainfall but not a problem for this trip because: 1) It didn't rain all week! 2) There is very little soil, so no mud, you spend most of the time walking over volcanic ash or lava!
A massive thank you to Anna, Bjrg and Hildur for going out of your way to collaborate with Southcoast to accommodate our tour to Landmanalauger. The communication was excellent and we were picked up directly from our guesthouse, on time and with a fantastic guide.
We were a party of four adults and one child who ended up on an unplanned Landmannalaugar superjeep tour with Midgard. We had originally booked with another company who didn't turn up as arranged. When we contacted them they called in Midgard to help and they were with us in about half an hour and provided a superb day. Our guide was Atti who was professional, informative and good company. It was slightly restrictive having a five year old on such a long outing but nothing phased Atti and we managed to see the varied and beautiful terrain and have a good soak in the river. On other days we also popped into their new building Base Camp which is great and provided a warm welcome, a good lunch and some helpful tips.
