Most Poland itineraries are very similar: The country is pretty small and the tourist sites well-known and frequently visited. What makes the difference is your Tour Director, and the TD we were fortunate to have for our "Highlights of Poland" tour with Insight Vacations in July 2025 was superlative (https://www.insightvacations.com/en-us/tours/highlights-of-poland?optionId=221). Throughout our tour, Sonia not only took us to a site, she visited it with us, keeping us on time and on schedule. She not only escorted us to restaurants, she ate with us. When we visited tourist-thronged sites like the Wieliczka Salt Mine, Zakopane, Sopot, Auschwitz-Birkenau, and others, she was the first person to the ticket booth and the last to board the bus. She was (almost always) first to breakfast and last to leave the hotel lobby at night. She was fast with a flourish and speedy with a sweet. Sonia didn't just anticipate problems, she solved them quickly, efficiently, and discretely. Although not a Polish speaker, she communicated effectively via her smile, patience, and calmness. Our Local Guides in Wroclaw, Warsaw, and Gdansk will similarly excellent: Knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about Poland. Marta (Gdansk guide) was fantastic; a native of Gdansk, she shared many interesting and funny stories about being raised under Communist rule.

Beautiful Capitals of Central Europe

A brilliant and unforgettable week, full of history, art, architecture and culture. A great way to visit all four capitals of Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria in a short space of time.

Well paced. Enough walking for younger travellers but manageable for older seniors and free time was adequate. Krakow, Gdansk, Warsaw, Zakopane, Wroclaw were all wonderful stops during the tour. Salt mine near Krakow was well worth the time spent there. , our guide was great - because he married a Polish woman and has lived in Poland for 15 years ( originally from Australia) his local knowledge of history and customs, told from a personal perspective, was entertaining and made more relatable.

Great hikes with mixture of lovely forested trails and wonderful open vistas. Some challenging climbs and long descents but all worth the effort. Justina our tour leader was great and we learnt a lot about the history of Poland from her. Always cheerful with a marvellous sense of humour and the holiday was made even more enjoyable by the wonderful group of people on it.

An enjoyable and well-organized holiday. The hiking comprised a good selection of walks although the paths were a bit more formal and busy than I would have preferred. Three of the four hotels were good and the fourth one adequate. We got the opportunity to experience a good range of Polish cuisine. Our leader was well organized and did everything he could to ensure that we enjoyed our holiday.

Excellent itinerary, providing fascinating insights into the history and culture of a very resilient people. The guides, main and local, were all knowledgeable and eager to share their love of their region. My only criticism is that some of the "optional extras" should have been integrated into the main program; e.g. even one of the guides said there is no real point in going to Zakopane if you don't see the sights included only in the Option. A well-paced tour with excellent accommodation.
