Reviews of our Kas Tours for October

Happily recommend this cycling trip. My first time in this area of Turkey and really enjoyed the scenery, food and hospitality. Thanks again to Paul our tour leader for a fantastic week, kept us very well organised in a very nice manner, his patience whilst cycling was very kind, and his knowledge of history was quite something, and infectious. A varied itinerary which was busy so made the most of the week, but as optional activities were often before dinner this allowed opportunity to opt out if wanted some extra downtime. First couple of nights in the same hotel which was good whilst got into the swing of things - then we moved hotel every following day, with a nice variety of locations and accommodation. The cycling could be tough at times, especially the 'uphill' day, not helped by hot weather (even for us in October) but our whole group managed and the joint sense of achievement was just lovely. Highlights would be enjoying the hospitality of local families (one breakfast, two lunches and a dinner - all just delicious), the trip to mudbath/ hot springs, ferry transfer very relaxing, trip to Haman good fun and quite an experience! Generally food on the trip was great My only tips - perhaps ensure you pack some long trousers for evenings - despite applying insect repellent I succumbed to some mozzie bites in some towns which were a bit of a pest. I had a really fabulous week cycling in Turkey!
Perfect mix of cycling, culture and cuisine. It was a nice group of people. Tour leader, Paul was very friendly and knowledgable about culture and history. Most accommodation had pools - so plenty of opportunities to relax. The afternoon with our own private boat was great fun, and so were the mudbaths and hammam. Hills most days, but scenic descents and great views - always the option of the backup vehicle, if needed a break.
An excellent walking itinerary especially the inland walks. The coastal walks are along beautiful coastlines but the paths are very rocky and require considerable concentration. Alpar our tour leader was extremely knowledgeable and extremely well organised ensuring that everyone got the best from the week. The hotel is somewhat tired and provided minimal facilities apart from the excellent pool.
This was a great walking tour, the first that I have done with Explore. The sun was stronger than I expected in October, but the leader was good at stopping quite frequently in the shade so we could cool down. There were also lots a breaks for swimming, and the water was amazing, both in temperature and in clarity. We did two walks at higher altitude that I enjoyed, especially the one at 2000m where the temperature was perfect for me, the scenery great and we saw some wild horses. also appreciated the two lunches and the dinner that we had with Turkish families, it gave some real insight into rural life in Turkey that you did not get in the resort. Kas was extremely pretty and the standard of food in the restaurants was very high. The leader was excellent in arranging meals for the group and in suggesting places to eat when we were not eating together. The kayaking that we did on the free day was great fun and it was even better because the leader joined us and explained a lot about Kekova. All in all it was an excellent trip.
Great walking trip around Kaş on the Turquoise coast. Good mixed itinerary with coastal and mountain walks led by a local guide. Kaş is a good base with plenty of activities, restaurants and cafes.
We enjoyed walks with amazing views and lovely beaches. They were, though, different to and harder than on the itinerary/trip notes eg the first day 'walk through olive groves' includes and a cliff edge section needing you to use a rope! However when Alper, our leader, realised that the new itinerary, that included a 14km walk, was not going to suit our very diverse group he worked hard to change it to include everyone. Kas is a lovely town with interesting shops and food and still busy in October. Hotel Artemis was good, especially the breakfasts and views from the roof top breakfast room. Alper organised excellent meals for us each night, including one where we sat just a metre from the sea. The group of 15 all got on well.
