Fabulous, fast paced trip Excellent trip, very fast paced as previous comments, this is definitely a cycling trip but very enjoyable. Whale Island was amazing and enjoyed 2 nights stay so could relax. Hotels were excellent, train journey was good. Food was amazing, Loc our your leader was excellent, always making sure we were all ok and enjoying the experience. Took us to great restaurants, advising the best food to try etc. Our group was split between people with Ebikes and regular bikes, which on the hills was an issue, the regular bikes were not able to keep up and created a gap in the group. If you want a challenge ride a regular bike, if you want to have easier rides order an ebike.
It felt like a month's worth of holiday in 2 weeks! The one other family were lovely- making it a real pleasure to travel together. The children really all got on well and that really made life easy! We would not have managed to see and do so much in 2 weeks if we had traveled independently- our guides (Tam in Vietnam) and Dyka (Cambodia and Thailand) were both knowledgeable and helpful and coped with our noise well!! The whole trip was as expected- apart form the VERY long drive form Siem Reap to Bangkok (much longer than anticipated due to Thai traffic). Apart form this one thing the bus was reliable and comfortable and everything was organised in a family-friendly and timely fashion. It really felt like our Guides did all the hard work and we just got to have the fun. We have some truly amazing memories and I think our children will talk about it for years (hopefully!).
A great mix of temples, scenery and cycling Fantastic temples, fantastic food, relatively easy cycling. Wonderful people.
You don't need to be a regular cyclist to do this tour - if you follow the Exodus guide on getting cycling fit, you will have no problem.
Bus support was excellent, for anyone that got sick, or just didn't fancy a particular cycle etc.
The mix of visiting iconic sites like Angkor Wat/ Angkor Thom etc was just right for us.
The cycling is nearly flat all the way from Thailand to the Mekong, and the expected/required cycling pace was relaxed. The only issue is heat; the temperature even in 'winter' was low to mid 30 celsius; regular water stops are provided, and acclimatisation helps. The hotels were either excellent - particularly the choices at Start/Finish in Bangkok and Saigon, and also in Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, and Chau Doc, or otherwise pretty good elsewhere. Almost everywhere had air conditioning, and where not, fans.
