We climb Gokyo ri, Chola pass, Everest base camp, Kalapthar in January - February with our guide Nima. The trek was very very cold but we made it. Chola Pass was very slippery but the guide was great. He use to go in front and open the path for us. He even helped us carrying backpacks since we didn't have porters. The sunset from Kalapathar is amazing. We go for sunset but not for sunrise. Very good views from the top.

Our guide Purna was a superhuman, we did the trek in mid-winter and that made the trail very slippery in many places. We, fortunately, carried crampons as suggested by the company. The views were tremendous, the trail was quiet and everything went fine.

We had a 23 day during hike in the Everest Region. Thanks to our guide we understood a lot more about the region and then people then we would have without a guide. The guide was very conscience about hygienic situation in the kitchen of the lodges and about our health. No one of our group suffered altitude sickness or diarrhea. Our tour operator was very helpful for other small trekking (Pokhara, Chitwan) and overall tips.
