Dakar Tours and Trips

A really busy programme with plenty of variety and so many moving parts. Everything worked seamlessly - multiple boat trips, meals out, etc expertly organised. A lot of bird watching opportunities!

We had a very enjoyable 12 days with a very interesting programme but there were very long journeys and the seats in the van were too narrow for the average European - if you were a solo traveller and managed to secure a double seat, you were lucky. Seat Rotation was more challenging and needed to be more organised in rotating the seats on a daily basis as some of the group didn’t sit in any of the front seats. The Guide Assan was excellent and quickly resolved any issues. Mustafa our driver was a very quiet and safe driver over challenging road conditions. There was a limited menu as most of the accommodations were off the beaten track. However, no-one in our group had a problem. Fish was frequently on the menu.

Great tour with plenty to keep the bird watchers happy. There are a couple of long days on the road broken up with some interesting stops on the way. You really get to see the real country and people on this tour. The tour blends a good mix of nature, culture and history. The Gambia river boat ride was wonderful. I have to say, our tour leader, Assan, was superb. Only one gripe. For vegans or vegetarians there are no real alternative options provided.

An interesting itinerary which took us far away from the more popular tourist areas on the coast. We travelled on boats along rivers and through mangroves, seeing an abundance of bird life. We also had a glimpse of the life and culture of the two countries. Assan, our guide was excellent and helped make the trip so enjoyable - very knowledgeable and very professional.

This trip to Senegal and The Gambia is excellent. Travel is mainly by boat, allowing great views of birds living along the rivers and waterways. The holiday was fast paced but not too much, allowing a few long days in the tour bus to travel to far flung parts of the country. We went off-piste miles from where tourists usually go, seeing several interesting places every day. Food and accommodation was of reasonable to excellent quality especially given basic conditions in some of the lodges. The tour guide was very helpful, well-organised and interesting.
