I enjoyed getting out and walking around the island. Looking at the homes and the lilacs all around town. The view from the fort was amazing. The Grand Hotel was very cool. Just moving about and exploring.
Great Trip! Tour Manager needs some Public Relations Training. Our tour manager talked too much about non relevant nonsense. She shared about a cousin in a cult, lacked actual historical knowledge, kept referencing the Americans, and joked so much followed by, “Just Kidding “ One example: She said we had to pay for restrooms. Then paused and said, “Just kidding.” People were all digging for money by that time. She confused a lot of older folks. She also would tell us the time to meet followed by several other times she thought of using and by the time she was finished rambling on, no one knew what time was what. She never gave us a moment of silence to visit with our travel buddies or to read or slept on the four hour bus drive. If she caught you visiting with your seat-mate, she would stop and say, “I’ll wait.” She thought she was a stand up comedian. She was frustrating.
The tour was amazing and our tour guide Jamie Uthe was the best! The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island was by far our favorite part of the trip - wish we could have stayed there a couple more nights!
Our tour manager, Chad was superb with important and vital information especially places to eat and shop. He was very informative and knowledgeable. He and the driver took us by to see President Obama’s library; although it wasn’t in the tour and was located in South Chicago👏👏👏 Hotels were average and one in particular didn’t have a handicapped room available upon checking in; although this was requested in advance. Breakfast was good selection of their buffet except for one.
We loved the tour. The tulips were beautiful. Mackinac Island & the Grand Hotel was fabulous. We thoroughly enjoyed the Dow house tour. Frankinmuth was interesting. One of the suggestions we would make is that the tour could have spent two days in Dearborn. We couldn’t see all there was to see in one day.
Driver and tour guide were excellent. Everything went very smooth. Hotels were really good. Had a great time. Wish I could’ve spent more time in Chicago but other than that everything was perfect.
