A very enjoyable week, highlights for me were the two gorges which I found reasonably straightforward. I would have liked a couple more longer walks or another gorge to walk but stunning and varied scenery. Accommodation was very good as was the variety of Cretan food to be tried. Crete is certainly a lovely island which we were very lucky to have our excellent tour leader Smaro to show us around
This was a trip not to be missed!! The beauty of the country was breathtaking, and having an opportunity to explore remote villages and hikes with almost no other people around was magical. I loved the entire experience!
Accommodation wa generally good exceptfokr one of the places in the second week where the roomswere sparcwe with no fridge and no means to have ahot drink in the room The tour director was great, (Niko) Looking after us all very well and particulaly helpful when tings went wrong. e.g Luggage not arriving before the start of the tour.
The trip was so much fun. Incredible hiking and scenery. A blend of the natural world and history. The accommodations were lovely and let you get a feel for the country, food and people. The trip was well-executed. The one thing I might point out was that the hiking on Day 2 to Lissos and on Day 4 to Loutro was more challenging than a hike classified as a Level 3 would indicate - even with preparation.
A truly comprehensive itinerary that allowed us to experience Greece and its history in depth from Athens and the Acropolis to Thessaloniki and King Philip’s tomb in the North, over to the west coast and down to Nafplio in the South. Visited bee keepers and olive oil producers and multiple archeological sites all along the way. We learned about the real Greece, including a stay at a small town, Galaxidi, for a taste of small town life. This packed tour ended with a two day stay in Crete to see its archeological sites. Our guide, made this tour fun, taking us to lunch or dinner and making sure we experienced authentic Greek cuisine. She went out of her way to see to the comforts of everyone on the tour and made the whole experience one to truly remember.
The itinerary was wonderful with variety; Museums, food, local culture, village life, etc all included. The only thing to make it better would be to add a two or three day option of the Santorini, etc islands. Beach life was missed.
