Just off the coast of Morocco sits the Spanish territories of the Canary Islands. The Canaries are a total of 7 islands, namely: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro. While a Spanish territory, the islands are an eclectic mix of European, South American and Sub-Saharan African residents though the predominant culture is very European. Many Europeans choose to holiday in Canary Islands, meaning there is no shortage of beachfront resorts. However, with a rich history and lush natural beauty with a perfect climate, the Canary Islands beg to be explored.

A great week of walking headed by David our amazing guide. David’s enthusiasm, professionalism and outgoing personality made each day a wonderful experience. He put 100% effort into ensuring each walk was enjoyable, rewarding and showcased the highlights of Gran Canaria.

A great trip with a great group of people and a great tour leader. The walks were interesting and varied giving a good insight into rural Gran Canaria whilst taking in the main natural sights on the island.

a two centre holiday giving access to less well known mountain areas as well as Pico de las Nieves, highest point of the island. Terrific walking, if sometimes challenging. A small group, 13, and leader above average - Bert

I was impressed by the spectacular scenery in Gran Canaria. We were well off the beaten track so never met the many tourists who go there in winter for sun and beaches. Walks were mainly in the central areas. Be prepared for some quite tricky paths, particularly in descent. Our guide Bert was very experienced and efficient and spent all the week with us even though he might have been entitled to a day off midweek! Both the hotels were excellent, completely different in style but couldn't fault them.

Gran Canaria is a beautiful island to walk in although the terrain is quite challenging. Walking poles definitely required. Our guide Gabi was excellent as was the driver Thomas. Gabi even arranged an optional walk including transport on the free day. Both hotels were good and provided good breakfasts.

Kenneth | Traveled in March

This is an excellent and challenging walking trip. Ours was greatly helped by having a brilliant tour leader (Gabi) . Accommodation was good/basic but this didn't really matter. Transport across the high altitude centre of Gran Canaria was spectacular - and our driver (Tomas) was great. The walking was challenging especially the underfoot volcanic "going" which made downhill a bit risky. But it was fantastic -Ken
