Reviews of our Belgrade Tours for June
Feedback from guests whose tour started in/around Belgrade during June.
Absolutely the most wonderful trip! We saw so much in 14 days - so many cities, so many countries, so many sites... The on-road team was phenomenal and the group was a lot of fun! Would highly recommend taking this trip.
Our tour director, was excellent. He went out of his way to make sure that everyone enjoyed the trip and we were able to have a great time. made sure to make our trip unforgettable. Great memories to share that will stay with us for a very long time. We also have to give credit to , our driver, we felt very safe having as the bus driver. Even though, we enjoyed the “optional experiences”, in our opinion, they were too expensive. For the Mercure Belgrade Excelsior in Belgrade, Serbia, we give a rate of 3. The room was very small, and the beds, instead of being close together, were in different corners of the room. There were only two electrical outlets. One was in the bathroom and the other was almost on the floor. There was only one elevator that could accommodate two people at a time. Thank you and . TO FEFO: Please DO NOT remove the names.
Balkan tour was great and well organised. Our tour director is excellent. He looked after us in every way from daily itinerary including sightseeing, meal and providing history and videos of countries we were visiting. However our first day group welcome meal was disappointing. The quality of food provided by the restaurant was pretty poor. Many of us did not touch the dishes. Most hotels we stayed were comfortable except Hotel TQ Plaza in Montenegro. It was a tiny hotel located inside a shoppimg mall. Rooms were pretty hot without good air-conditioning. We were unable to change the temperature as it was set by the central system. The heat in our room was unbearable. Front desk keep making excuses they will fix it but nothing has been done. They also do not provide any bottle of waters in the room but told us to drink from the tap which I do not consider it a 3 star hotel. Overall it was a good Balkan Adventure to remember
Well organised. One night stops are quite tiring. Bus trips are very long. Scenery is pleasant but very monotonous. Hotels were excellent. Local guides know their stuff but shouldn’t give personal opinions. Food was good. Travel guide was very competent but her accent was difficult to understand and she spoke too quickly for me as I am a bit deaf. Lovely having people of many nationalities and ages, who were never late nor argued with local guides nor caused any disruptions. Nobody told me that you didn’t put toilet paper in the toilet; that information should be in the notes somewhere. I should rather pay for everything up front. Being Australian, we like people to do their job competently and be paid accordingly and not expect a huge tip at the beginning of the trip!!!
The destinations were excellent. The guides need additional training to ensure they are actually being heard and providing information that is valuable to the guests. Not all hotels would classify as 4 stars on this trip, even to European standards. The bus did not have some of the features we have seen in our previous tours, such as USB ports. Most hotels had poor drainage of water and water all over the bathroom during showers which could not be managed with one bath mat provided. As far as the other guests were concerned, there were guests who felt they deserved to go in front of others in the line. The TD accommodated 2 guests to sit in the same seats throughout the trip, which was unfair as these guests always got off the bus first therefore always ahead of others who were rotating seats in getting to the restrooms, food, and breaks. I was surprised by this as when I booked the tour, I was asked if we were able to adhere to the seat rotation so I was very surprised that certain guests were getting special accomodations for reasons that were not disclosed to us. People who have motion sickness should not be on a bus tour.
Positives: 1) First off, this is the best trip out there I could find to see the majority of the Balkan countries in a 2 week trip. 2) Our excellent tour director (Tammy) was entertaining, organized and very personable and caring for our large group of 41 travelers. This was not an easy task as there were a couple of people that were constantly late, keeping the group waiting. 3) Hotels all had good to very good breakfast to start your early days. 4) Hotels in cities that allowed for some free time were in good locations for walking to city centers and sites. 5) We had a lot of fun and interesting people on the tour and plenty of time to meet and engage with everyone. Areas for improvement: 1) 2) There's a lot of driving so be prepared for long days on the road. Expect a good 4-8 hours on the road and more hours in gas stations and rest stops for required breaks every couple of hours. 3) City sightseeing tours were good to very good/excellent and varied by city (they seemed to get better as the trip progressed). Unfortunately, after the tours we usually only had 1 to 2 hrs afterwards to eat lunch and "buy souvenirs" so there was little to no time in most of the one night cities to do any sightseeing on your own if you wanted to have lunch before continuing the tour.
