Thomas Morales (Tommy) is a fantastic tour guide. He is highly knowledgeable of all the areas we visited, extremely helpful, nothing was a problem, guided and advised us, helped with border crossings, had restaurants booked, carried bags, and gave you the feeling of safety, that he knew what he was doing and was taking you on the right path. A pleasure to be with for four weeks he made the experience wonderful. Thank you, Tommy!
I loved the crew I made friends with! I learnt lots from JC and saw so much! I loved it all except never again will I do a home stay! I will sign a waiver!!!!! (I did do a home stay in Bali and it was absolutely fine- it was basically a hotel/hostel with the family living on site) But this family on this trip you could tell it was all about money. They had construction workers there, the children didn?t engage with us, the mother didn?t want to engage with us either, she sat at a completely different table and spoke to us across the room. They didn?t eat dinner with us. They then left for Zumba straight after our dinner! It was all somewhat manageable until there was no running water! Unaccceptable!
This trip was everything I wanted it to be and more! It had the perfect balance of activities - from relaxing by the water, to outdoor recreation, great food, and an incredibly immersive cultural experience that's truly unforgettable.
I think the tour operator should provide transport to the airport at the end of the trip on the same basis as transfers are provided on arrival. Our group had a number of different flight times through the day and some of us had a choice of spending most of the day at Cancun airport or incurring additional expense - the more so because of the distance we were staying from the airport
My wife and I are over 75 years old, but fit. We hiked and climbed Mayan pyramids, swam and trekked through an underground cave, snorkeled and dove reefs and shopped and dined in local markets. We took some extra trips, but passed on those, such as scaling an active volcano, that were not our cup of tea. By car, van, bus, boat, bike and foot, the adventure was always interesting. The tour guide handled all arrangements and ironed out the occasional glitch. However, he would arrange for local guides who had regional knowledge and views. We met many typical residents of three countries and interacted with them on a close and personal level.
The tour is fast paced but I still felt like we had enough down time. You definitely get great experiences that aren't possible for ordinary solo travellers such as their planeterra supported community visits which were so amazing!
