Reviews of our Ankara Tours for July
Feedback from guests whose tour started in/around Ankara during July.
This was an well planned and incredible tour. Our tour leader Ege was just amazing. Well informed, well articulated and very helpful. Loved his sense of humour and jis suggestions on where to eat was also great. Definitely one of the best tours I've been on in an amazing country. Thank you
Glories of Türkiye 15 day tour This small group (in our case just 8 people) tour was excellent and provided a perfect introduction to this country. The first thing that stands out is how clean everywhere is. Not so much as a candy wrapper anywhere, city streets or country by-ways. The Turks are hospitable, polite and friendly people, eager to please everywhere you go. English is spoken in many places and commnication is never a problem. Our escort and guide, Fatih, was both knowledgeable and informative about the many sights; but also thoughtful and concerned for the well-being of his group members. Highly organized and experienced, he had everything under control. Our fellow travelers were all delightful company. Istanbul is a vibrant city with a history dating back thousands of years. Divided by the Bosphorous, it is both in Europe and in Asia. The Kadikoy district, on the Asian side, is not part of the tour but should be. If possible try to spend a couple of additional days there. The ancient sites are all interesting and cover thousands of years of history, including Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and many associated with biblical writings. This is also a good opportunity for non Muslims to learn about the Islamic faith. Dining was always a pleasure. Although the Turkish population is almost entirely of the Muslim faith, it is politically secular. As a result, alcoholic beverages are widely but not universally available. Tap water is generally avoided, but bottled water is available everywhere. Prices in stores and dining establishments were significantly cheaper than Europe or North America. There was no sense anywhere of a threat to personal safety. Indeed we saw no signs of homelessness or drug or alcohol abuse or criminality. Toilets were clean and fresh everywhere. In summary, Turkey was a wonderful vacation experience, and the Glories of Türkiye 15 day tour met and exceeded our expectations.
It is a well organized trip, fully escorted from the beginning until the end. The hotels are excellent. We really enjoyed all the places we visited and would like to travel back to spend more time exploring, especially in Cappadocia and the big cities. All the people we met were wonderful and our guides were excellent.
Alican from Northa Travel is probably the most caring guide I've ever met. He does everything in his entire power to make your dream holiday come true. A true hard worker. Really flexible with the itinerary made by him or you (that's up to you). I can't really recommend him and his company well enough. Very reasonable prices too. Great experience, just great!
The tour include all the highlights in Turkey as promised but in order to get to everything in the 8 days on tour means long distance driving and many hours on the bus. Our bus driver, Mr Bake Abe, was excellent at his job and I felt safe at all times and admire his skill at getting the bus through small spaces or park in difficult spots. Our local guide, Ege, was a treat. Not only is he very knowledgeable about Turkey, but he has a lot of energy, a good sense of humour and he can communicate very well in English. Ege also went the extra mile for everyone and always made sure we are safe and OK. Ege helped us find our way after the Istanbul walking tour, by walking us down to the river in his free time. He also accompanied us on a sunset cruise during his off-time and was never too tired to listen or help with advise and guidance in terms of specific shopping requests. The tour itself allowed for time to admire the sights although a bit more time at Pumakale would have been great. The pottery and carpet making were incredible but wish for more affordable stops in terms of that. Hotels were excellent in general especially loved the one in Cappadocia. Suggest that the driving tour ends in Cappadocia and everyone flies back to Istanbul instead of the long last day on the bus. Also would be better to include the entrance fees in the original pricing to be paid beforehand when booking the tour as well as the tips for the driver and guide to be paid beforehand.
