My mom and I booked a 4/5 day private tour of Jordan and a 1/2 day private tour of Israel with the local travel specialist. They handled all of the booking for us and were very responsive and flexible in switching out hotels, activities and timing per our request. They handled everything for us, and all we had to do was show up at the Queen Alia airport! We felt very safe throughout the whole trip - everyone was welcoming, especially in Jordan as the country’s primary economic revenue is through tourism. Our Jordan driver, Tayseer, was phenomenal and had amazing English. He even taught us some Arabic! He had wifi in the car, cold water and A/C waiting for us whenever we’d come back, and provided us with a local cell phone so we could contact him when needed. He coordinated with all of our local hotels and guides to make sure we were all set and that they’d take good care of us. We are vegetarian, and he’d call ahead to make sure the local restaurants or hotels could accommodate our diet. Tayseer also helped us out in a sticky situation where we lost a phone and he coordinated with local security and guides to help us find the phone and drove extra to get our phone back. If you’re booking a tour in Jordan, I’d highly recommend requesting to have Tayseer be your driver! He really made our journey fantastic. We stayed at the Holiday Inn at the Dead Sea and had a very relaxing time there! Their spa is small but good, so if you’re interested in a treatment, I’d recommend either calling ahead or asking the agency to help book an appointment. We did the Petra by Night experience (definitely worth it if you can arrange your itinerary) and Petra the next daytime. Basel was our guide in Petra and he taught us a lot about the Nabateans and also took great pictures of us. I’d recommend bringing about ~25 JD per person in cash if you think you might use the golf cart or horses / mules as it can get very hot in the summer post-10am. We then did a Jeep excursion in Wadi Rum with Yahya. Yahya’s English was really good, and he showed us the main highlights of the dessert. There was a natural bridge he showed us and he took me on a little impromptu scaling / climbing adventure to get to the top! Super cool experience. You could also tell he genuinely cared for the people of the desert and animals around him - when he was showing us the way the Nabateans collected water, he noticed someone had left a mule tied to a shrub in the heat and brought water from his Jeep for the animal. Truly, he had a pure heart. Please request him if you’re booking a Jeep tour in Wadi Rum. We then continued to Jericho, Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv/Jaffa from the land crossing. We had a great time seeing all of the holy sites - definitely worth the trip. Make sure you negotiate well if you shop from the markets - even for food! There was a juice place that first quoted us 25 Shekels and then eventually said 15. But anyways, had a great time! Thank you so much travel expert.
Eight unforgettable days in Jordan. Amman an the Citadel and Roman Amphitheater, Jeresh, ancient Roman City, the next World Heritage site. A swim in the Dead Sea with mudpack. Petra three nights and two days. Going to the high, mostly unvisited, places, in Petra. Wadi Rum - take me to the desert. Camel ride at sunrise. The Seven Pillars of Wisdom - Lawrence of Arabia. Aqaba and snorkeling in the Red Sea. Great tour leader, Sami. Great hotels. Great restaurants and food.
For years I had wanted to experience Petra. This trip turned out to be about more than just Petra--it showcased Jordan--and in the process exceeded all expectations. Two days at Petra was a wonderful way to experience the site--mile after mile of hiking as the adventure unfolded, we learned about the history and people of the area. We had dinner in the home of a local family where we learned about the muslim religion and way of life. We got to experience a hammam, we enjoyed the luminaria evening at Petra complete with poetry and music. Unforgettable! We got to experience the beauty of the desert in Wadi Rum and stay overnight in a beouin camp at full moon. The next morning, a camel ride at sunrise was magnificent and unforgettable. Snorkeling in the Red Sea--couldn't get enough of it. Swimming in the Dead Sea and taking the "mud cure". Great experience and hilarious to be plastered with black mud. Bye bye wrinkles! Amman and Jerash--such a rich experience --the hisory, the local color, the wonderful people. A special surprise for me was a birthday cake and celebration--It was wonderful and never to be forgotten, thoughtful and much appreciated! There was so much going on--the pace was just right. We saw as much as could comfortable be fitted into the time we were together.
I got back from Jordan just over a month ago now and still get a buzz from thinking about all the memories and looking through the photos. There is nothing that I would have changed about this holiday! It was my 1st Exodus holiday and it certainly will not be my last! In fact, I've already booked up for the Highlights of Northern India trip in October! The group of people on the trip were fantastic, the tour/cycle guides were 2nd to none. Couldn't recommend this trip more! Please see YouTube link below... Just a short video I compiled with some of the photos when I got back, hope you enjoy it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOIKEX2-49c
A huge amount to see and experience, from museum in Amman with 400,000 year old flint tools and Dead Sea scrolls to as good Roman remains in the vicinity as there are in Rome (where we went a few months before). Trips out from Amman not too long and plenty to see, explore and experience. Quite sobering to see the Golan Heights and later in the trip a Syrian refugee camp in the desert. Travelling south to see the St John the Baptist baptism site and nearly touch Israel across the Jordan, arranged as an extra by our very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide Ali. 'Sinking' in the Dead Sea at the beach of our 5* upgrade hotel, plus another addition by Ali of a late afternoon visit to Little Petra. Two days of heat in Petra, setting off early for the climb to the Monastry with the shade temperature of 32C at 0715. Found remains of the oldest purpose built Christian church in the world in Aqaba; not to mention crusader castles, the 'Promised Land' lost in the haze, Madaba where we would have liked a bit more time to wander and Wadi Rum. Food different and very good all the way and all the Jordanians we met were very friendly. A diverse and very friendly group made this and excellent trip.
I can't fault this trip! Beautiful sights, amazing history and a wonderful group made this holiday one of the most memorable I've been on. Also a huge thanks to both Danny and Sadam who took care of us during this tour - both informative and friendly!
