Worth all those steps for the food and the views

The weather in March was mixed, but we only got wet once or twice. In general the weather was good for walking, and later in the week there was plenty of sun. Most places looked like they were just getting reason for the season, with much painting and repairs being done. Being this early meant most places were quiet, so no queuing or traffic jams.

Nice trip, good scenery

To me, this was a really good little one week trip away. The scenery on the walks Veriano took us on was great. Apart from climbing up Tre Calli the trend on the walks is mostly down hill. A feature of some of the walking is the time spent going down the many many steps in the area. This can agitate sensitive knees. Sometimes the steps are rough stone steps, sometimes they are neatly contructed concrete. Perceptions of how difficult the walking is will obviously vary with ability from one person to another. To me the walking was not difficult and we were on the move for 4-5 hours in total each day but there was never any rush and rest/photo stops were frequent. There is a short section on path of the gods where you might need to get your hands down on the rocks though. The village of Bomerano is small, there are some shops, the opening time of which, to me, were entirely random. I'm sure they weren't but that's how it felt. There is a small grocers/convenience shop right next door to the hotel if you want snacks and drinks. The Hotel Due Torri was nice. A relatively small family run hotel. I had no complaints. Any drinks and meals not on the itinery you buy during the week are charged to your room and settled on the last night, rather than pay as you go. Breakfast options were simple but sufficient. The evening meals were high quality and very well prepared and generally very Itallian. Pity Itallian style food is not really to my taste. I have to thank my group mates for feeding me extra of what I wasn't being fussy about :D Our free day options came down to visiting Herculaneum or Sorrento and Capri. There were some concerns about whether Capri was going to be in low season slumber like Amalfi and Positano and also if the ferry would run reliabley given the variable weather conditions at the time so most of us chose Herculaneum, which I thought was great, as good as pompei, just smaller.

A great Italian coastal walking holiday

Stayed in the excellent family run Hotel Due Torri - lovely meals and friendly cookery demonstrations. Meals were lovely - food intolerances well catered for. Comfortable rooms, warm. Bomerano was good to walk from to Amalfi, Ravello and Positano. A thoroughly enjoyable holiday for us - first time with Exodus and being in a group; we woud definitely consider going with Exodus again.

Wonderful walking trip

This was our first organised walking trip. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with such an interesting group of people who were great company - they were inspiring and entertaining! The walks were accurately described in terms of difficulty and the scenery was stunning. Hotel Due Torri staff made us feel welcome and served us delicious, home cooked , authentic Italian food. The guides who led us up Vesuvius and round Pompeii were knowledgeable but imparted their knowledge in an interesting way, adding humour to their commentary. Our main guide, Veriano, who accompanied us every day was superb.

Amazing Amalfi

This was my first trip abroad since covid and loved it! The walks were amazing, Vania our group leader brilliant, Bomerano and the family hotel a great base and camaraderie of our group was lovely. We luckily had perfect weather for this holiday and as it was early in the season not many other tourists about so almost felt we had it to ourselves. Some of the walks are pretty challenging but so worth it!

A great out of season week in Italy

This is a deservedly popular Exodus holiday with a lot of activity packed in to a week. The walking is not especially difficult and has a downhill bias, with many steps to encounter. The Amalfi coast is very scenic and photogenic. Vesuvius dominates the landscape of the Bay of Naples and visits to Pompeii and Vesuvius are naturally included, although we think that a better pairing would be Vesuvius and Herculaneum, the latter being arguably (even) more interesting than Pompeii.
