Had a full day in Sienna and a nice orientation tour of Florence (I spent a few extra days) Plus to get to visit lesser known towns that the big companies overlook. My favorite was Pienza. A nice little town that also had my favorite hotel and great places to eat. And yes, we tasted wonderful Italian wines, as well as the best cold cuts and cheeses I’ve ever tasted. And did I also mention hiking to wineries and hill towns? Wonderful sights, with spectacular views. One hike it rained towards the end, but that didn’t dampen our spirits.

Loved this tour. Staying in Matera in the cave was a highlight and also staying in the Trulli house in Alberobello. Could have done without the farm visit, it felt like it was just filling in time. Would have preferred to visit Monopoli or similar. Same with the wine tasting. I think it’s such a waste to start the tour at 6pm, have a city tour in the dark then dinner. Much too late. Itinerary simply said meet at 6pm for welcome meeting then enjoy dinner with the group. Nothing about 2 hour walking tour of Bari. We already explored Bari on our own during the day because of how the itinerary was written. Otherwise I enjoyed it and would recommend.

The Dolomites are a beautiful part of the world and this trip didn't disappoint!!! From airport pick up to drop off, I felt in safe hands. Our hotel was perfectly placed near the centre of town and only a short distance from the bus station. Food at the hotel was delicious and we had 5 courses every night, just what you need to fuel a good hike! Our walks gave us the opportunity to take in the stunning views of the mountains and lakes. Around every corner was another WOW!!!! We tackled a range of terrain from woodland and meadow to the rocky paths around the Tre Cime. Nigel, our guide, was fab. He made sure we all got on and off buses, offered alternatives so people could tailor the walks to their ability and was very knowledgeable about the region & it's history. Best of all, he kept us entertained with myths & legends about dwarves, princesses and of course marmots!!! Thanks Nigel & Explore! for a fantastic holiday!

My frst trip with Explore and it didn’t disappoint. Massimo our guide was very good and all the events were excellent. I particularly loved the farm visit to see Mozzarella being made and the olive oil & wine tasting. I also loved the walks! The accomodation was ok but not always comfortable and I personally would have liked just a bit more time between activities as it seemed very rushed! I will certainly look at booking Explore again in the future!

The cycle paths from the Dolomites to Lake Garda and on to Verona were amazing. The leader (Fabio) was fantastic; he was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and above all patient. He took us to, or recommended, excellent places for lunch and supper each day. The extras in addition to the cycling were great fun, e.g. the cable car ride in Bolzano and the wine tasting in Soave. The bikes were sturdy and well maintained. There were only two up-hills of note during the trip. If you are reasonably fit you will get up them easily, otherwise be prepared to get off and push for a short distance. The accommodation was very good with en-suite rooms in all hotels and great breakfasts, including lots of healthy options. On the last night we stayed at a place outside of Venice but very close to the Mestre train station (it took 15 minutes to reach the Grand Canal). We were able to go back to Venice on the Sunday morning, after the organised holiday finished, but before our flight. We had an excellent holiday, enjoyed with like-minded people who were good fun to be with. Well done to Explore for offering and organising such an interesting and action-filled week.

I think the stand-out feature of each tour has been the guides we’ve had on each trip - they’ve all been excellent without exception and have dedicated every waking moment of each tour to making sure each has run perfectly and participants are happy. The tour was expensive and we were in a mediocre hotel with flaky internet. But the tour leader was exceptional in all areas. Her presentations were faultless, her interest beyond compare and nothing was ever too much trouble for her. An excellent part of the holiday Would l travel with Explore again? Probably not they're too expensive. Without Lara's input l'd be asking for a refund.
