Loved it full on , but it was well worth it. We would never got to see what we got to see with out this well organised tour. It helps having a great tour guide and bus driver no doubt it would not have been so smooth with out them .

We absolutely loved our Trafalgar Tours Western European tour. Our tour director, was simply amazing. She took care or our specific needs and was absolutely available to answer questions at any time. She, was incredibly knowledgeable and very much a part of our Tour Group. What more could you ask for. A tour Director who was simply one of us. and I very much appreciated her expertise. Our Bus Driver, well, cool as a cucumber as he safely got us from one destination to another. , Prego!! One suggestion would be to allow a little more down time between the end of a tour day and a scheduled dinner.

Erica Dalton-Joyce was an excellent tour director. Extensive knowledge of the history of Ireland and very helpful and entertaining. The city and town stops were great. It helped to have a good group of guests to travel with. Highly recommend.

Our itinerary was a detailed plan of each day's journey with a list of places we were visiting that day. Which is a wonderful to have, it gave you a heads up on planning your day.

and made the trip so much fun! being a life long resident of Dublin was extremely knowledgeable of his country and his special touches along the way added to the overall experience and enjoyment. You have true winners in both! was an excellent driver as well as very personable! Great trip and Ireland is as beautiful as all my friends who have visited attested. Thank you and to all the Trafalgar personnel I dealt with in scheduling and answering any questions I had up until departure! Will always recommend Trafalgar (My 7th trip) especially for singles traveling alone! 🇺🇸

It was a fun filled, jam packed week. I found Rome to be crowded and the excursions were a surprise add on, as you had to pay for all the tours with the local specialist. I was not impressed with who did the Piazzas and Fountains Tour. The Roman dinner was excellent. I loved the drive to Florence though the Tuscan hills and the lunch at the Palace. Florence was beautiful and would have loved to spend more time there. our local specialist was amazing and very knowledgable was very disappointed in the Gold and Leather tours that we were forced to take. I found them to be a complete waste of time. I would have much better liked to spend what little time we had in Florence exploring instead of being stuck in stores. The Tuscan dinner was delicious and fun. Venice was amazing. We loved exploring and getting lost in the quiet residential alleys. Again, the Murano glass tour was a waste of time. The Gondola ride was okay, it was everyone in our tour following each other down a designated route, not very spontaneous. The water taxi ride down the Grand Canal was beautiful at dusk. On to beautiful Switzerland. We got caught in a mountain downpour at our lunch break. It was only cloudy when we pulled into our stop, so I left my umbrella on the bus. I would have been nice if there would have been some extra umbrellas on the bus for us to temporarily use to get back to the bus. Just a thought. Lucerne was beautiful and the temperature was a lot cooler than it was in Italy. The views from the top of the mountain were spectacular. I loved hearing all the cow bells. Again, I wish that we had more time here. Paris blew my mind; it is such a beautiful city. our local specialist was excellent. Seeing the Eiffel tower for the first time on the horizon was amazing and then up close was great. , our tour Director was great. , our driver was absolutely the best. He was an excellent driver, and I felt very safe, even going down the tiny back roads in Tuscany.

Traveling to England and Ireland: An Overview

Our England and Ireland trips let you explore both countries in one action-packed holiday. From routing to weather and top destinations, here’s everything you need to know.

Getting from England to Ireland

It’s wise to plan a circular route that avoids backtracking to save time and money. Most combined tours of England and Ireland will start in one capital and finish in another, making a circular route the most practical. London and Dublin are each nation’s largest aviation hubs, so, book an open-jaw airfare to fly into one capital and out of the other. If you plan to focus on Northern Ireland, Belfast has the most connections and best prices.

Numerous companies offer passenger and car ferry services over the Irish Sea between various destinations in England and Ireland. Crossings take three to eight hours, depending on the departure and arrival point. Unless you have a vehicle, you may prefer to fly as it is often quicker and more convenient.

Best Time to Visit England and Ireland

Summer (June to August) is the most popular time to visit England and Ireland for its warmer weather and ample sunshine. However, peak season brings hordes of fellow holidaymakers, especially in July and August. Expect higher hotel and airfare rates, plus thick crowds at the most popular sites.

Autumn (September to October) and spring (March to May) offer acceptable weather, better prices, and thinner crowds. Aim for the months closer to summer (May and September) for a better chance of nice weather!

English and Irish winters are chilly, wet, dark, and windy. Expect typical temperatures between 2°C (35°F) and 7°C (44°F) and about eight hours of sunlight per day. While the weather isn’t ideal, winter is a cheap and uncrowded season to visit this region.
