The Cuba By Bike tour starts from and ends in Havana. It is a bicycle tour that takes 12 days taking you through Santa Clara, Havana, Cienfuegos and 3 other destinations in Cuba. Cuba By Bike is a guided small group tour that includes accommodation, transport, meals and others.

A cycling adventure that captures the real Cuba. Cuba is a Caribbean gem that is ideally suited to cycle touring and our local guides lose little time in introducing us to their favourite haunts and hideaways in a country with such contrast. After exploring the cobbled squares and narrow alleyways of the music filled capital Havana, we set off to explore the lesser known regions of Cuba at handlebar level. We pedal into the rural heartland, averaging 50 to 60 km each day through an ever changing landscape. From misty valleys to open woodland, to the caves and crags that characterise the Vinales Valley and the equally impressive coastline, Cuba has it all. Our final days are spent in the beautifully preserved town of Trinidad, with its colonial Spanish architecture together with excellent walking in the rugged Topes de Collantes forest region. As a fine finale we return to Havana via Santa Clara, the city that is forever associated with the name Che Guevara.

“In general, you completely undersold how good the trip would be. Three people accompanied us for the whole trip - the guide (Eric), the mechanic and the bus driver. All of them were professionals and extremely helpful. Eric in particular adjusted the trip according to our preferences and was an outstanding guide. He also loves his country even though he sees its faults clearly. The bus which accompanied us and took our bikes was excellent - very modern, clean, spacious (I think a 40 seater) and with air conditioning. The bikes were ideal for the range of fitness and skill levels that we had. They were also refitted to us as required on the first day. The Casa Particulares were a mixed bag - depending on the host - but were significantly better than we thought they would be. The food was excellent. I was expecting rice and beans but quite the opposite. There was substantial fresh fruit, bread, summer salads, eggs, chicken and pork/ham/bacon. This was everywhere. The bike ride was incredibly well organised and planned. We built our stamina up to the 86km day which everyone did without a problem. The scenery and places we visited were excellent!!”

“Cycling was an excellent way to experience the real Cuba. The countryside is beautiful and brimming with history. We experienced the pros and cons of life under a communist regime, especially when we stayed in the Casas, which were delightful. The people were unbelievably friendly and they certainly know how to make music!”

“Very enjoyable way to see Cuba. Our guide spoke impeccable English and had a wealth of historical knowledge he shared on the many layers of history and political situations in Cuba's history. The biking was easy to moderate, the most difficult part probably being the hot temperatures if you are not used to it. If the all- inclusive stay in a hotel for 2 weeks is not your thing, Biking Cuba is a great alternative to seeing this amazing and diverse island. The scenery and people are the highlight of getting away from the tourist crowds.”
