Seeing a gap in the tourism industry, Suen Tat Yam left his job as an auditor to set up “Monster Day Tours” under Woopa Travels Pte Ltd, with a tagline “Go Big or Go Home” to encourage travelers to experience everything to its fullest- eat, play and party as hard as one possibly can.
The journey to success is paved with self-discovery. Upon realising that the take-up rates for initial paid tours were not optimistic, Tat Yam pivoted his business planning strategy by coming up with free walking tours around cultural sites at Chinatown and Little India. Since the implementation of such walking trails, the number of enquiries has increased fourfold.
Today, Monster Day Tours is the #1 walking tour operator in Singapore, and is ranked fifth out of 150 tours in Singapore on TripAdvisor. The company has also worked closely with multinational corporations such as Google, Nikon, Sony and Carrefour for many different events.
