Loved Scandinavian architecture.. hotels were all lovely with incredible breakfast buffets ..every country had so much to see and they each had their own beauty and interesting history

Comprehensive tour

I recently completed the Absolute Scandinavia tour and found it to be comprehensive and well laid out. The drawbacks were the inconsistency and constant changing of our guide and the lack of clarity of meeting expectations by some of the newer guides. There were also numerous times when there were explanations in 3 different languages, making it difficult to follow any narrative. I understand the desire for a full bus, but it became like a game of checkers with guides moving around almost daily. Speaking English seemed to be an afterthought and less important. language.

Introducing Estonia

Delve into a fairy tale land of medieval castles, open prairies, and dense forests. Take the road less traveled to Rakvere and visit a castle filled with actors playing the roles of knights-errant, cooks, and stable boys. Or forgo the path completely and explore the riverine landscapes of Soomaa National Park by canoe before hitting the attractive streets of the capital, Tallinn, on foot.

When to go to Estonia

Situated on the Baltic Sea along Europe’s border with Russia, Estonia is best enjoyed during the summer season that lasts from May through August. Opt for a vacation in the country at this time of year and you can soak up the sun on the beaches along the Baltic Sea, swim in tranquil forest lakes, and check out its big-city attractions. The only thing you cannot do in the summer season is ski down the slopes of Otepää – the country’s winter capital. The months of February through April are best suited for birding, while September and October are ideal for walking holidays as the weather is mild and the scenery vibrant.

How long to stay in Estonia

Because of the country’s small size, a visit to Estonia does not have to be a lengthy affair. A long weekend of three days is enough to take in the museums and historic sites of Tallinn. Make it five days in Estonia and you can also visit Tartu, the oldest city in the country. However, we would recommend a jaunt lasting between one week to ten days. A week-long affair ensures that you can kick back on the stunning beaches of Parnu and enjoy sunsets, while ten days allows you to explore the country’s easternmost region and see Narva Castle.

Must-visit destinations in Estonia

With medieval structures dominating both the upper and the lower parts of town, Tallinn is not to be missed while preparing for any holiday to Estonia. During the spring and summer months, in particular, the islands of the Baltic Sea – including Hiiumaa and Saaremaa – are worth the short ferry journey for idyllic countryside scenes. Yet another destination that you should not forget is Lahemaa National Park. The largest wildlife reserve in the country, its sights include Palmse Manor, pine forests, and beautiful waterfalls.
