About

I grew up in Dorset and spent many a summer traveling in Wales with family. After studying in Swansea and Oxford I became a town planner. I acquired extensive walking and mountaineering experience in the UK, Europe, America, and Nepal and began leading walking parties in the UK and France.

In 2007, my dad and I launched our own travel company to share my knowledge and passion for magical landscapes. I have led many guided walking holidays, but I also prepare most of the trips we work on. Always jovial, with plenty of stories to tell, I'll be your perfect antidote to working in the office (or whatever work you are escaping from). My experience, qualifications, and interests in various subjects, including geography, geology, and the environment, provide an added dimension to all holidays. I also create travel notes for self-guided holidays that reflect my desire to share my knowledge and enhance a traveler’s holiday.

William's Travel Expertise

I specialize in basically anything to do with the outdoors and hiking—trekking, rambling, tramping—whatever you want to call it. The areas I know best are Scotland, Wales and France. I prefer to avoid capital cities and and I like to create unique experiences from scratch.

I am also an expert at custom trips. Whatever your interests I can create the perfect holiday for you. Whether you wish to add additional days to an existing 'package' (I hate that word) or create your own holiday, I can arrange it for you. Thanks to our network of specialist partners I can create a range of active holidays; for example, if you wish to learn to horse ride, take a trip in a hot air balloon, take part in wine tasting courses, have a Thermal Spa treatment break, or just want to go fishing I can arrange this for you. There are plenty of activities to cater for a special celebration or a fun group holiday, you decide.

William's best travel experience

A unique travel experience of mine was (of course) going hiking with my dad, and then a generation later taking my young son up 3000m peaks in the French Alps! Second to that, I find great pleasure doing reconnaissance along the British coastline and I intend (when time permits) to walk the length of the Cornish coast in one go.

Why is William the right travel expert

I believe in supporting and working with locals and offering off the beaten track experiences. Our holidays do not follow the run of the mill routes, but have been designed to let you enjoy the best a region has to offer without following the main tourist routes. All of the walks have been prepared and tested by us, assisted by locals.

The majority of the guesthouses that I use on our holidays are intimate, special places with bags of local character. Your stay could include quaint cottages, old farms, former mills, chalets, manor houses or even castles, all of which have been lovingly restored by their owners to provide B&B accommodation, or as small independent hotels. I take a lot of joy in reconnoitring and choosing these places!
