day 1Join trip in Maun, Botswana
Our tour starts today in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. The rural village has rapidly developed into Botswana's 'tourism capital' and is a great jumping-off point for exploring Botswana's reserves. Our lodge tonight is the magnificent Thamo Telele, set amongst a lush forest of leadwood and acacia trees, around 25 minutes outside of Maun. Each luxury safari-style tent is on a raised wooden platform with hardwood floors and an en-suite bathroom, all have outdoor showers and nature as the backdrop. The stylish canvas tents are fully equipped with twin beds, which can be converted into doubles, and air conditioning above the bed. There's also a swimming pool and a central main lounge and bar area, where you'll find comfy couches and locally designed wall art. It's a truly exceptional property. For those arriving in time, our tour leader plans to meet you in the lodge reception at 6pm for a welcome meeting followed by dinner served under the stars around 7pm. There are no other activities planned today, so you're free to arrive in Maun at any time. If you'd like an airport transfer today, you'll need to arrive into Maun Airport (MUB), which is around a 30-minute drive from our lodge. As part of our Upgraded range, we also offer a complimentary transfer to those who have made pre-tour accommodation arrangements directly through us, regardless of your arrival day If you miss the welcome meeting, your tour leader will inform you of any essential information as soon as you catch up

This adventure has everything! Wildlife was amazing, lots of close encounters; beautiful accommodation, great food and a brilliant tour guide who was helpful friendly and could spot an animal no one else would have seen. I loved the variety of landscapes and environment which was also represented in the accommodation from intimate tent lodges to a stunning African lodge with warthogs, steenboks, monkeys and mongoose running around the lawn to a smaller colonial style guest lodge. This adventure does not disappoint!
This is a stunning trip! Everything was fabulous from the quirky luxury of the accommodation to the excellent plentiful food and of course the magnificent wildlife. This was my holiday of a lifetime made perfect by the ideal guide. Phenyo was knowledgeable, good humoured, kind and patient. He worked so hard to make sure we had the best experience possible. I will remember the sight of a leopard resting on a tree branch for the rest of my life! Only one tiny suggestion-a small collapsible step to help us short people clamber aboard the truck!
This was my first safari, and the holiday exceeded my expectations. Our guide Phenyo shared his exceptional knowledge and love of wildlife and Botswana with us. His local knowledge and a touch of being in the right place at the right time gave us many opportunities to see amazing wildlife in their natural surroundings. Many many, highlights; getting close to the leopard and lions, watching the elephants crossing the river, the enormous herd of buffalo, giraffes, zebras, impalas, numerous varieties of birds. The list goes on. Thank you to Phenyo and the people of Botswana for sharing this with us.
Tour was good and guide good. The travel was hard going. Would have liked more time on the Okavango Delta
The vehicle we initially was in for 2 days had no ladder that folded down- made it difficult for some passengers to get in and out. The landrover had an oil leak and was traded out to a better model with ladder- also it was open- lacking the bulkhead cab in front so now we could actually see the road from every seat! Also we could hear what Titus ( our guide) told us. It also was old though and seemed to lack maintenance. Engine weak and transmission not working properly.
