Dive into Nepal’s spiritual heart on the "Nepal Buddhist Cultural Tour," a nine-day journey through sacred sites and serene landscapes. Begin in Kathmandu, discovering iconic Buddhist shrines and monasteries, before heading to Pokhara’s peaceful pagodas and lakeside vistas. Experience Tibetan life at Matepani Gumba and dedicate a full day to Lumbini, the revered birthplace of the Buddha. This guided trip stands out for its fusion of spiritual exploration and cultural immersion, offering travelers the chance to connect with Buddhist traditions at some of the world’s most significant sites. For anyone seeking a meaningful cultural tour that blends history, spirituality, and scenic beauty, this is an enlightening choice.
day 1 - Kathmandu Arrival, Welcome to Nepal!
Our office representative will meet and greet you in typical Nepali style at Kathmandu airport and transfer you to your hotel in Boudha, Kathmandu. After arrival, we will meet for a coffee talk at your hotel and brief you on the details of your ongoing trip itinerary. If your arrival is late we will meet the next morning during breakfast.
day 2 - Buddhist Cultural Sightseeing
After early morning breakfast, visit Boudhanath stupa, where you will be welcomed by the divine smell of incense and the cooing and grunting of the pigeons. After arriving at the Boudhanath stupa the divine aura will declare peace among people's souls.
Visit Kopan monastery, full of beautiful lawns and stunning gardens. As soon as you enter the monastery premises, the warm smiles of little monks will welcome you. Inside the monastery, you will be able to see a colorful interior inspired by Tibetan architecture. The peaceful environment will be an ideal place for mediation as well or you can just spend some quality time at the cafe inside the monastery.
After spending some quality time at Kopan Monastery, drive to Nagi Gumba. The atmosphere at this monastery is enchanting. The monastery is located next to the Sivapuri Nationalpark giving you a refreshing ambiance and eye-pleasing view of the luscious green forest. After exploring the amazing monastery you will return to the hotel at Boudha and stay overnight.
day 3 - Namo Buddha and Dhulikhel
Have your breakfast in the hotel and get ready for another amazing day of your tour. Today you'll be visiting an ancient and famous monastery. The peaceful atmosphere will take you away from the crowded city life. In Namo buddha, you will see numerous butter lamps lit in honor of Buddha.
This is the special place where king Mahasattva offered his flesh to a hungry tigress at the very place making it a holy site for Buddhist people. The monastery is surrounded by a serene environment and green hills, making it the perfect escape from noisy urban areas. The monastery is surrounded by a Tamang settlement and you can learn about the unique culture and try some tasty local foods.
Drive to Dhulikhel where you will get to see a marvelous sunrise and sunset. This fascinating place has a lot to offer to its visitors. The elevation of this magnificent place is 1550m above sea level, which means that you can not only get to see astounding sunsets but mountain views such as Mt. Gurisakher, Mt. Lotse, and Mt.Phuribichyachu. After witnessing the beauty of the magnificent sunset from the Dhulikhel viewpoint you will drive to the hotel nearby Dhulikhel.
day 4 - Monastery Exploration in Kathmandu
Wake up early to see the sunrise and the mountains. Drive to Pharping monastery. The monastery is surrounded by beautiful greenery and profound history. Pharping is famous for its plethora of Buddhist monasteries. This place is filled with giant statues of ancient gurus and some Hindu temples. There is a nunnery at Pharping monastery where hundreds of monks study Buddhist doctrine, and practice mediation. You can take part in the ritual if you wish.
Visit White Gumb (Monastery) situated on top of Druk Amitabha Mountain. This beautiful monastery is at the height of 1500m giving a majestic valley view and of course of the nearby mountains. This place has remarkable gardens and awe-spiring building architecture covered in religious murals and paintings. This peaceful location is perfect for relaxation and meditation activities.
Pay a visit to the famous Monkey Temple, Swayambhunath. This ancient temple is situated on top of a hill providing a mesmerizing bird-eye view of the entire Kathmandu valley. You can participate in religious activities such as feeding the pigeons and lighting the butter lamps.
After visiting some of the historical monasteries and temples, drive to Thamel where you will stay overnight. You can have dinner near your hotel where you can try local as well as continental food. You can also self-explore the Thamel area which is famed for its nightlife in Kathmandu city.
day 5 - Welcome to Lumbini!
Have breakfast and get ready for your ongoing flight to Bhairahawa. You will be dropped off at the airport on a private basis which will take about 15 mins. (flight duration is 35 mins).
After you reach the airport, you will be greeted by one of the official representatives who will drive you to Lumbini. Your Lumbini sightseeing will be fully guided. On the way to Lumbini, you can try some of the local foods. There are numerous natural sites and stunning international monasteries and temples where you can have some snaps. You will be surrounded by a peaceful environment where you may see monks and people practicing meditation.
After devoting a full day at Lumbini, you can explore other places and have dinner before you check in to your hotel. You can relax and enjoy the hotel accommodations.
day 6 - Explore Tilaurakot
Enjoy your morning meal and get ready for another exciting day of your trip towards Tilaurakot. Witness the remains of the ancient city of Kapilavastu, which is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. This place holds heartfelt historical importance since it is believed that Lord Budhha spent 29 years of his life at this very place. It will take around 50 mins of driving. On the way, you can visit the Araurakot Asoka Pillar. There’s a good chance that you will meet monks in this place where you can have interesting chats. (you can also drive to Devdaha which is optional).
Return to the hotel and relax or self-explore the peaceful land. You can also collect souvenirs on the way to your hotel.
day 7 - Here we go - Pokhara!
Have your breakfast and drive to Bhairahawa airport for your ongoing flight towards Pokhara. You get private transportation on the way to the airport which will take approximately 30 mins. (flight duration is 20 mins)
After landing you will be greeted by the driver outside the airport who will help you check into the hotel. You will be embraced by the hypnotic mountain views and lively streets. You will drive towards the Peace Pagoda. One must climb 400 steps to get on top of the dazzling Peace Pagoda.
The view from the top is worth all the hassle. On the way to the hotel, you can visit David's Falls and Gupteshwor Mahadev cave which are famous natural attractions in Pokhara. Return to the hotel and loosen up. You can self-explore the lively and exciting lakeside and have dinner near your hotel.
day 8 - Monastery exploration in Pokhara
After you have your breakfast, drive towards Matepani Gumba (Monastery). It will take nearly 20mins to reach the harmonious monastery. Several times a day monks gather in the hall for prayer. If you manage your schedule you get to take part in this ritual. The monastery itself is a work of art and the complex is sculpted and beautifully painted. The inside of the building is as astounding as the outside, the ceiling of the building is covered with religious murals and paintings.
Drive towards the Jangchub Choeling Monastery from Matepani Gumba which will take around 25 mins. The monastery is situated near the Tibetan refugee area. You can explore Tibetan culture and taste authentic Tibetan food on the way to the monastery. You will be welcomed by the melodious chantings of the monks and a tranquil aura. From here you can observe snow-capped mountains and the splendid landscape surrounding the monastery. You can spend some time with the locals if you wish.
After paying a visit to the iconic monastery, you will drive back to your respective hotel. You can have some coffee and soak in the beauty of the amazing city.
day 9 - Back to Kathmandu (leisure day)
Have your breakfast and pack your bags for your flight back to Kathmandu. (flight duration is 25 mins) After baggage collection, your transportation will be waiting outside the airport. After check-in at your hotel, you can explore the vibrant streets of Kathmandu. You can visit Thamel and spend some time at cozy cafes and restaurants.
You can also collect souvenirs like handmade jewelry, clothing items, and many more eye-catching things. (If you feel the need for a guide you will be allowed) Lastly, we will meet for a cultural (traditional local dance live performance in folk songs) Nepali dinner in Kathmandu on your farewell.
day 10 - Farewell, we love to see you again!
Have a safe home return! You will have leisure time in Kathmandu after breakfast at your hotel. Our office representative will escort you to the Kathmandu airport 3 hours before on time to board your flight. We hope you enjoyed the trip with us!
