Itinerary
Located in the northwestern part of India, Himachal Pradesh is a paradise for tourists. Join us on this ten-day, private, guided tour to enjoy the splendid surroundings of Shimla, the magical beauty of Manali and the delightful religious atmosphere of Dharamashala.
Starting from Delhi, where we will pick you up at the airport on arrival, this tour will take you to Shimla, the summer capital of the British in India, Kullu and Manali regions, before heading for Dharamashala, where the Dalai Lama resides. From there you will travel to Amritsar, the seat of Sikhism and home to the spectacular Golden Temple, Sikhism's holiest shrine.
Explore picturesque hill stations, see emerald lakes and snow-capped mountains and journey through the barren beauty of the India's upper Himalayas. Please note that entrance fees to the monuments mentioned is not included in the tour price. For more details, please go through the itinerary below.
day 1 - Delhi arrival
Our representative will meet you at the airport on arrival and drive you to your hotel in Delhi. You are free for the rest of the day.
day 2 - Delhi – Shimla
Drive to Shimla. Check into your hotel on arrival. Shimla was formerly the summer capital of British India. A popular hill station, Shimla is known for its cool climate and great views of the Himalayas. The lush green hills of Shimla attract travelers from far and wide. You are free for the rest of the day upon reaching Shimla. Stay overnight in Shimla.
day 3 - Shimla – Kufri – Shimla
Visit Kufri, located at an altitude of 2,630 m in the foothills of the Himalayas, a one-hour drive from Shimla. Kufri is a popular adventure destination in India famous for its trekking and hiking trails as well as skiing activities.
Return to Shimla in the afternoon and set off on a sightseeing tour Shimla town. Visit the Jakhoo Hills, known as the highest point in Shimla and enjoy panoramic views of the town. Then see the Viceregal Lodge and walk down Mall Road before heading back to your hotel.
day 4 - Shimla – Kullu – Manali
Check out of your hotel after breakfast and head for Manali, 265 km and seven hours away from Shimla. Manali is a beautiful hill station known for its lovely sights. It is located 1929 metres above sea level. En route, visit the Kullu Valley. This beautiful valley is surrounded by the Shivalik Range and is famous for apples.
Continue your journey to Manali, located 2,050 m above sea level and located in the Beas Valley. Manali is also the centre of winter activities in India. Check into your hotel on arrival. You are free for the reminder of the day.
day 5 - Manali
Take a trip to the Rohtang Pass, located 3,978 m above sea level. This is one of the world’s highest motorable roads and offers mesmerizing views of the Himalayas.
Please note that the government issues a limited number of permits to drive through this pass. In case we are unable to obtain the permit for you, we will take you for an excursion to the Solang Valley. Also, the Rohtang Pass remains closed every Tuesday.
If time permits, we will also visit other prominent spots and attractions in Manali, including the Hadimba Devi Temple, Manu Temple, Tibetan Monastery and Vashisth Village, which is known for its hot springs believed to be endowed with great healing powers. Stay overnight at your hotel in Manali.
day 6 - Manali – Dharamshala
Check out of your hotel and drive to Dharamshala, where the Dalai Lama resides.
day 7 - Dharamshala sightseeing tour
Go for a sightseeing tour of Dharamshala. Visit McLeod Ganj and see the Tibetan Museum and Namgyal Monastery. Stay overnight in Dharamshala.
day 8 - Dharamshala – Amritsar
Check out of your hotel in Dharamshala and drive to Amritsar, a holy city of Sikhs that was founded in 1579 AD by Guru Ram Das, the fourth Guru of the Sikh religion.
day 9 - Amritsar sightseeing tour
Your first destination today is the Shree Durgiana Temple, a 16th century temple dedicated to Goddess Durga. Next, visit the Jallianwala Bagh, which marks the tragic Amritsar massacre that took place in 1919. See the Rambagh Gardens, the summer palace of Ranjit Singh, the most powerful Sikh ruler.
This palace is now a museum dedicated to Ranjit Singh and displays the history of the Sikh empire as well as their cultural and artistic achievements. See Gurudwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib, dedicated to the Sikh martyr Baba Deep Singh Ji. We will then head for Gurdwara Baba Atal Sahib, which was built between 1778 and 1784 and is known for its spectacular architecture.
You will also get the chance to witness the elaborate flag ceremony at Wagah Border today. This ceremony is carried out by the Indian Border Security Force and the Pakistan Rangers.
We will take you to the Golden Temple in the evening to witness the Palki Sahib ceremony, which involves dozens of devotees acting as a human conveyor belt to carry the Granth Sahib from the main shrine to the sanctum. Drive back to your hotel as the day comes to an end.
day 10 - Amritsar departure
We will drive you to the airport in Amritsar for your flight home.
