day 1 - Explore La Paz and the Moon Valley
Upon arrival to the airport, our representative will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel.
In the afternoon, join a city tour of the administrative capital of Bolivia. Explore the embroiderer’s street and its displays of colourful folk dresses, head to the historical centre of the city of La Paz, visit the Witches Market for mystical items of the Andean region, and many for local landmarks.
Later, take the city’s cable car, one of the longest urban air transport system in the world, and enjoy a panoramic view of La Paz. End your day with a unforgettable trip to the Valley and its otherworldly landscape located 10 km from the La Paz city centre.
day 2 - History of Sucre
After breakfast, fly to the historic city of Sucre. At the city, visit the House of Freedom Historical Museum; Museum of the Treasure, which has a high-level display of Bolivian precious and semiprecious stones; the Convent of San Felipe de Nery or La Recoleta viewpoint; the Asur Textile Museum; the San Lazaro and Santo Domingo churches; the main historical monuments and Bolivar Park.
Note: San Felipe de Nery museum is only available in the afternoons, for morning tours visit La Recoleta Museum
Stay the night at Sucre.
day 3 - The mines of Potosi
After breakfast, head to Potosi to visit a private mine on the Cerro Rico, currently managed by the miners who bought it from the State. Explore the mines and watch the miners at work in much like they did during the Spanish colonial era.
After the tour, head to Uyuni for the night.
day 4 - Explore Uyuni
Today, explore the city of Uyuni. First, head to the train cemetery for old locomotives used for mineral transport, before continuing towards the village of Colchani. In the village, observe the processing of the salt: drying, grinding and bagging salt. You will also have the opportunity to purchase local craft.
Cross the Uyuni slat flats as you head to Incahuasi Island, a rocky outcrop with giant cacti, some over 100 years old and up to 12 metres high.
day 5 - The natural beauty of Uyuni
Depart early to the Chiguana salt flat in the southern region of Uyuni. You will continue to the Ollagüe Volcanos viewpoint, where you can observe the volcanic activity and a dramatic desert landscape. Then, we reach the Joyas Andinas, or the Andean Jewels, which a collection of small, beautiful lagoons.
Later, visit the famous the Stone Tree and cross the Siloli Desert, a surreal flatland without vegetation and is the entry point to the Eduardo Abaroa Reserve.
You will continue towards the Red Lagoon, named so for its blood red tint caused by a variety of algae which thrive in the salt water. The lagoon also attracts an incredible number of wildlife in this desolate region.
Stay the night at south Uyuni
day 6 - Fly to La Paz
You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to La Paz.
day 7 - Half day at Tiwanaku
Today, explore Tiwanaku, the capital of an ancient civilization, located 72 km from the city of La Paz. During its prime, Tiwanaku was the principal ceremonial centre. This pre-Inca ruins sparked endless archaeological debates for their origins with the most recent radiocarbon 14 tests showing that the remains date back to 1580 BC.
There, we will visit Kalasasaya temple, the legendary Sun Gate, the semi-subterranean temple and Akapana Pyramid. Also, visit the local museum to get a deeper understanding of the region and see an impressive collection of ancient objects and tools.
Stay the night at La Paz.
day 8 - Fly back home
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your international flight.
