I did this Trek of four days that I can summarize as " nature, adventure, stunning views, in fantastic company". We saw Incredible landscapes, crossed bridges and rivers on foot, climbed many stairs and had very good moments. My guide (Raman) was very attentive and gentle, and explained yo me everything I was curious about. Thank you very much for such a nice trip! Maybe one day I'll repeat with you ;-)

It's hard to believe that this time last week I was climbing an epic Himalayan cliffside staircase on the Bhutan pilgrimage to Tiger's Next Monastery! This amazing trip also visited the annual Thimphu festival where we watched the colourful dancing monks, it flew me over Everest and the 5 highest peaks in the world (sightings are weather dependent), and took me inside one of Asia's largest golden Buddha statues to view 125 000 mini golden Buddhas.

I'm 70. I had a yearning to see Everest since I was quite young. As I grew older, I hoped to do the trip with my sons but the length of the trip was not conducive. I wasn't particularly fit but trained for a few months beforehand, not knowing if I could manage the amount of walking , let alone the unknown element of altitude. Arriving in Kathmandu, the hotel was excellent and we had time to visit the old city of Thamel. The flight to Lukla was a great experience in a small plane, next the start of the trek. The 'Teahouses' along the way offered a warm convivial welcome, with varying numbers of other trekkers present. Suspension-bridge crossings, some several hundred metres long were great! We were lucky to have clear visibility and sunshine nearly every day as we progressed ever higher amid awe-inspiring scenery, expertly led by our leader Valerie Parkinson, and Nepalese guide Saroje. Our yakman Nawang took care of all our luggage except for our light daysacks. We gazed up at Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Macalu, Pumori, to name but a few peaks. From various vantage points including the aptly named Everest View Hotel, we had excellent views of Everest with the South Summit and South Col. We experienced at first hand the logistical marvel of how everything is transported up here; by yak, mule, dzo or porter. Bird-life included Vultures and Golden Eagles soaring overhead, plus Tibetan Snow birds that took a fancy to my lemon drizzle cake on Kala Patthar during our final acclimatisation trek. After taking in the Kumbhu Glacier, we reached Gorak Shep before the final push to Everest Base Camp itself. Unlike most other treks, we had ample time at Base Camp rock before the short walk to one of the expedition camps where we stayed overnight, amongst an array of camps looking like something out of a Bond movie. We witnessed a massive avalanche, and spent time on the ice shelf, truly surreal amongst the surrounding peaks. Overall, it was tough but an utterly amazing experience, in the competent hands of our leader Valerie, a lifetime goal achieved.

I am glad to say that I did the Dolpo after a few friends recommended me. Booking with the operator was an easy process and they replied to all my queries on email instantly. I recently completed the Island Peak climbing expedition and it was nothing short of incredible! Not only did he guide me through the trek and the climb with expertise, but he also shared so much knowledge about the culture, the landscapes, and climbing techniques. His calm demeanor and encouragement, especially during the more challenging sections, gave me the confidence I needed to push through. Whether it was pacing ourselves on the way up, helping with gear, or ensuring we stayed safe on the glacier, Dendi was exceptional. Prakash, the manager and owner of this tour company, was also fantastic. From my first inquiry, he made the whole process so smooth. His communication was clear, and he made sure all my questions were answered promptly. I felt like I was in great hands from the get-go. The logistics of the trip, including permits, transportation, and accommodations, were all taken care of seamlessly. Bidding farewell to the mountain, I felt profound gratitude for the unforgettable experience.
