I booked this trip for my daughter and me. She wanted action and adventure, every day, and this trip delivered. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotels. Much nicer than I expected, given the low cost of this to her. Most of the transportation was fairly high-quality as well. The bus too, and from the rafting was nothing fancy, but certainly nothing to worry about.
Be prepared to spend a little more time than you might expect in transit. That's a function of Costa Rican infrastructure. Lots of one lane roads means travel between cities can be really slow. But the scenery is gorgeous. If you just consider it part of the adventure, and enjoy it, it's not a problem.
I highly recommend this trip. It had everything we wanted.
Outstanding trip. Oldemar was our contact person and itinerary organizer. He did a phenomenal job. he took care of all the logistics and they were excellent. I would recommend this trip to anyone
San Jose, Manuel Antonio National Park, Tortuguero National Park, Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Arenal Volcano, Pacuare River, Arenal
On this 7-day adventure nature trip, explore tropical forests, beaches and one of the most impressive volcanoes in Costa Rica, all in a week!
The trip begins with a three-day trip to the exotic canals of Tortuguero National Park on the Caribbean coast, the key nesting ground for endangered sea turtles between the months of July and October. The rivers within the park are also home to sensitive populations of manatees as well as caimans, crocodiles and tropical gar, which is considered a living fossil. The rainforest is home to jaguars, three-toed sloths and three of Costa Rica's four species of monkey: spider monkey, mantled howler and the white-headed capuchin. Basilisk lizards and poisonous frogs also inhabit the area, along with 375 species of birds including kingfishers, toucans, blue herons, peacocks and parrots.
Then, we have an adventure to La Fortuna, the closest town to the stunning Arenal Volcano. See the volcano from different angles, while bathing in the hot springs, hiking to the base of the massive La Fortuna Waterfall or visiting the amazing hanging bridges. There is so much to see and do here!
Our tour guide, Manny, was great - professional and friendly - and ensured we all had the best time in Costa Rica. It was so nice being able to have so many incredible experiences without having to think about booking them or how I was going to travel between them, even when dinners/ lunches weren’t provided Manny showed us some great places. The activities were all pretty amazing too!
Great trip run by professional tour operators. Our initial apprehensions about our first overseas trip post pandemic were put to rest by the excellent arrangements including day planning and lodging starting from receiving us at the airport. We felt at ease and relaxed throughout the trip. In short, the tour operator demonstrated how a professional tour needs to be operated. I recommend all to check them out if you are planning a trip to Costa Rica !
Great experience - learned so much more about the country and the area and connected with fellow travelers from around the world. The small group tour made travel a breeze for this single mom traveling solo with her son!
Get a taste of Costa Rica on this 7-day, multi-location tour. Explore the real San Jose colonial city and La Fortuna downtown. Then, take an awe-inspiring journey to the Arenal Volcano where you can soak in the natural pools and may even see an eruption! Next, head to the famous "cloud forest" of Monteverde and get your heart racing on a canopy zipline! Finally, head to Tamarindo Beach for sandy relaxation and surf, swim or snorkel. The trip starts and ends in San Jose so be sure you check out the city and get a glimpse of local life.
All accommodations and transport included. Please read more in the detailed itinerary and what's included sections.
As an ex trolley dolly I would consider myself a seasoned traveller used to travelling independently. Taking my 11 year old daughter on this trip of a lifetime gave me back my sense of adventure and has inspired her to globe trot. I met an American on a rickety boat in Thailand 20 years ago - he told me to visit Costa Rica as it was beautiful - well he was wrong, it is the most beautiful and magical country I have ever visited!!!!!!!!!!
San Jose, Manuel Antonio National Park, Tortuguero National Park, Arenal Volcano, Cahuita National Park, Arenal Volcano National Park, Manuel Antonio, La Paz Waterfall, Sarapiqui, La Fortuna
We started off San Jose and explored the culture. Food was amazing. Next we headed out to Pacuera River to whitewater raft for two days. Got to stay in the rainforest with huts and the guides/volunteers were Amazing. So attentive, knowledgeable and kind. They kept us well fed. Our next trip took us to LA Fortuna....long drive but worth it. The hanging bridges, waterfall, and hot springs all were very enjoyable. We were lucky enough to see spider monkeys and other native wildlife ssooo cool! We then went to Quepas near Manuel Antonio to enjoy the Pacific beach. Beautiful as well. The water is very warm. Other wildlife we saw were macaws, iguanas, chipocun monkeys. Last destination back to San Jose. Enjoyed walking around the market streets. Our drivers, guides, and meals were all great.
