Great trip, some amazing sights with temples and the chance to see local life. Himalayas were breathtaking. The rhino and sloth bear were excellent, never expected to see them so close.
Our tour leader Su was very attentive, knowledgeable and always checking we had everything we needed.
Arturo was the best leader ever and would highly recommend him for the leader of the year. The trip was varied and taught be so much. Definitely ( if you can!) go to Inti Raymi. The most spectacular event I have ever seen
The Amazon extension was well worth the money as stayed in superb lodges with excellent food
We loved the La Paz Waterfall Gardens and Sarapiqui River tour! La Paz is beyond beautiful with orchids, hummingbirds, frogs, toucans, scarlet macaws, parrots, coatis, sloths, ocelots, margays, and a jaguar. The gardens and waterfalls are exquisite. A wonderful buffet lunch was included.
Our trip down the Sarapiqui River in a covered boat was so much fun! We saw two caimans, iguanas, Anhingas, swallows, butterflies, and five troops of Mantled Howler monkeys.
Oscar and Armando, our guide and driver were so kind and taught us so much. We stopped at a lovely coffee finca to see the beans ripening, a sopa (local restaurant) in the mountains to take in spectacular waterfall and hummingbird views, we watched whitewater rafters, and sampled fresh pineapple at a farmstand.
Oscar and Armando treated us like family and made our first day in Costa Rica amazing!
Thoroughly enjoy the trip. The itinerary was well thought out. Plenty of time to allow for acclimatisation before the final highlight - the Inca Trail. Special shout out to Darwin our tour leader who goes extra mile to ensure we enjoy our trip. He is very keen to share his knowledge and love about Peru.
We had an excellent leader in Sujth and a great group overall. The itinerary was full-on although we had enough time to relax and fully appreciate the very varied activities. This included a couple of opportunities to add some small additional inputs related to the specific interests of some of the group. For example, Sujth has an extensive knowledge of the Sri Lankan birds which was put to great use throughout the holiday.

Customer service with World Expeditions was fantastic. Every time I had a question, I was able to speak with a real human person and get honest answers. Thank you!!
I highly recommend this trip. It is worth the long journey. Our leader Runty Jackson was exceptional. He is a proud New Zealander with Māori children and gave us an enormous amount of information about the country including adding a few interesting places to our itinerary.. We were able to do this because we were all willing to get up early and were always on time. We were taken to Nugget Point - the most Easterly point of NZ and the nearest place to Antartica. We saw sea lions and exceptional views. We were also able to walk the beginning of the track up Mount Cook.
Runty was exceptional at helping organising things, and making suggestions. He managed the group dynamics well. New Zealand is a wonderful place to visit but I do feel the whole experience was made exceptional by Runty. He is by far and away the best Explore guide I have had on my many trips. Thank you.
We had a great time on this trip. The itinerary has a lot of variety -- city/cultural tours plus hiking and rafting in beautiful scenery. Our guide, Csilla, was outstanding -- very patient, upbeat, and calm. She also gave us so much information on the history of the three countries. The wine tasting experience was terrific because we got to interact with old-time, traditional wine makers from the countryside. We've experienced posh wine-tastings at art galleries and hotels in the past, and although they weren't horrible experiences, they felt much more pretentious and much less authentic. Having read some of the previous reviews that were less positive, our comments are: 1) if you want luxury travel, don't book this trip -- when you order a glass of house wine, it will be just that, and no more. It's fine to be a wine snob or a coffee snob or a hotel snob, but don't book a relatively low-priced tour and then be disappointed when you aren't given luxury treatment. Some of the hotel rooms are small and won't accommodate a queen size bed, so there will be two twins. If going for a week without a queen bed is the end of the world for you, find a luxury tour company and pay the additional cost to travel that way. Also, with respect to the hike, the description in the itinerary was totally fine and a reasonable assessment of the difficulty. It would be advisable to have appropriate shoes -- we wore hiking boots and were fine. But any time there is a hike on the itinerary, you should plan ahead and have a fitness routine at home (before departure) to prepare adequately. It is unreasonable to book this trip when you cannot even do the city walks.
