We begin our journey in Amman, Jordan, with an arrival transfer and free time before we explore the ancient Roman city of Jerash and Amman's key historical sites, including the Citadel and Roman Theatre, the following day. Day two also includes a local street food experience and an evening visit to the Wild Jordan Centre. Our journey then continues south along the scenic King's Highway, where we stop at the historical sites of Madaba, Mount Nebo, and Shobak Castle en route to Petra. We dedicate an entire day to discovering the magnificent Nabataean city of Petra, walking through the Siq to marvel at the Treasury and exploring other tombs and monuments, with options like Petra by Night or a cookery class available to us the previous evening.
Following Petra, our adventure takes us into the striking desert landscapes of Wadi Rum, where we stay overnight at a Bedouin camp, complete with a traditional meal and an included Jeep safari the next morning; optional activities like camel rides or hot air ballooning are also offered. We conclude the Jordanian segment of our trip with a journey to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, where we have ample time to float in the hypersaline waters and experience the therapeutic mud, before we transfer to Amman airport on day six.
We then transition to Egypt with a flight from Amman to Cairo (note: this flight cost is not included). Upon arrival in Cairo, we begin our exploration with the iconic Giza Plateau, visiting the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx, followed by trips to the ancient capital Memphis and the Step Pyramid at Saqqara. An early flight takes us to Luxor, the ancient Thebes, where we explore the West Bank's treasures, including the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and the Colossi of Memnon, before boarding our 5-star Nile cruise ship. In the evening, we enjoy an illuminated tour of Luxor Temple. Our cruise continues with a visit to the vast Karnak Temple complex as we sail upstream towards Aswan, stopping at the well-preserved Temple of Edfu and the unique double temple of Kom Ombo along the way.
In Aswan, our highlights include an optional early morning excursion to the magnificent temples of Abu Simbel, taking a traditional Felucca sailboat ride on the Nile, visiting the relocated Philae Temple complex, and stopping at the Aswan High Dam. Afterwards, we fly back to Cairo for our guided tour of the world-renowned Egyptian Museum, home to Tutankhamun's treasures. This comprehensive 20-day Everest Gokyo Lakes Trek is a remarkable adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of the Himalayas, offering a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and physical challenge. The journey commences with a scenic flight to Lukla, followed by a trek through charming Sherpa villages, including Phakding and the vibrant Namche Bazaar, allowing you to acclimatize to the high altitude and experience the local way of life.
As you venture deeper into the Everest region, the trek leads you through lush rhododendron forests, across suspension bridges, and past cascading waterfalls. This is a world-class trek that takes you through beautiful wooded valleys, along cold, clear mountain rivers, and into the soaring, snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. The trek culminates in a climb to the high mountain glacial region of Everest Base Camp. The trek is justifiably famous for being both challenging and rewarding, and yet remains open to most who have the stamina and determination to make it.
You start this tour in Kathmandu where you meet your trekking guide to travel by road to Salleri where your trek to Everest Base Camp begins. Starting in Salleri means you avoid the flight into Lukla and instead add 3 beautiful days of trekking through the foothills of the Himalays in areas with few other tourists. This is a lodge-based trek, which gives you the chance to spend time meeting and talking with other trekkers and guides in the evenings, as well as enjoying a little more comfort at the end of each day and ensures you contribute to the local economy.
From Salleri the trek spends the first few days climbing gradually through the Himalayan foothills, crossing several deep, wooded river valleys before following the Dudh Khosi up to Namche Bazaar, an historical Sherpa trading centre of the Khumbu Region. From here you enter into the Sagarmatha National Park area, and tremendous mountain scenery surrounds your trail as you make your way towards the high mountain glacial region of the Everest Base Camp. Several acclimatisation days are built in en-route to ensure you ascend safely.
Beyond Lobuche, snow-capped mountains close around as you follow the Khumbu Glacier up to Gorak Shep (5,288m), and ascend Kala Pattar (5,545m). The view of Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Everest, from the summit of Kala Pattar, is truly breathtaking. The following morning, you trek up to the Everest Base Camp area, from where so many expeditions have begun. From Base Camp you retrace your steps back to Lukla, along the way appreciating spectacular views of peaks from angles you may have missed on the way up.
From Lukla you catch the morning flight back to Kathmandu where you have a little free time to do some last minute shopping or a little more sightseeing around the city and surrounding valley.

Nile Cruise was my bucket list travel since I was a kid, dreaming about such a big civilization: being in the middle of such a huge temple, like Karnak, makes you feel you are back in the ancient, golden time and you can smell the magical atmosphere and the energy of that place. You cannot really describe that feeling fully!!!
Sailing at night along the Nile, snooping around the glimpse of calm, relaxing daily life along its shores, listening to the prayer call and smell the unforgettable flavors of Africa is something you cannot miss at all.
Life on the cruise is really relaxing: rooms are quite big with all the comforts you need. Food is pretty much impressive: I was not expecting at all such cuisine details and tasty flavors, from the Arabic world to the International palate.
The pool deck with its bar is the best option ever to relax after a long excursion or simply enjoy a book reading whilst you are sailing for your next destination.
Tour guides were really on the top of the things: very polite, easy going, cheerful and smiley and always ready to be at your service, very knowledgeable and extremely professional.
A very big round of applause for our tour guide in Cairo: Mohamed Jawad - a pure Egyptologist, a great archaeologist who was able to frame the history of Faraons and the whole ancient Egypt into a cultural, social background to provide you with a 360 degrees vision. It was an absolute pleasure to go around in Cairo with him and discover every single corner of such a vibrant city: tips on every day life, secrets of new discoveries and future happenings in Egypt was our favorite topic among the streets of the city. A highly recommended guide, a friend, a very knowledgeable and curios, pure Egyptian who will make you love their gigantic history.
