Overall, this was a truly eye-opening experience. Getting the chance to meet indigenous communities and see local projects up close gave us a much deeper understanding of Mexico than we could have had as travellers. We enjoyed our recent highlights tour of Mexico. There was lots to see and explore. We thought the ancient sites were magnificent. However, we recommend that people arrive in Mexico city a couple of days beforehand to acclimatise and really explore this magnificent city and its museums. In Particular the Anthropology museum. We really enjoyed the mountainous regions, and the indigenous areas were just so interesting. The towns and cities of San Christobal De las casas, Campeche and Merida were splendid and worth staying for longer and really getting to know.
Playa del Carmen at the end of the trip was a huge disappointment. It's not worth the effort and is a little tacky.
