Kythnos has all the extraordinary beauty and charm that we associate with the Greek Islands, but without the hustle and bustle of the popular tourist spots. Certainly, one of the lesser-known Cycladic Islands, Kythnos is one of the closest to the mainland and is renowned for its striking landscapes, golden sunsets, traditional architecture, ancient archaeological sites, and of course, its joyful community of welcoming locals. Fishermen provide the island with fresh fish every day and the lands are cultivated with care and love as the community provides exquisite products like the well-known thyme honey.
Full of exceptional walking trails, this trip will take you to the most beautifully sandy beaches with clear waters, across wild countryside, and past ancient settlements with uninterrupted ocean views. You'll visit the excavation site of a 2,500-year-old ancient city, the ruins of an intriguing Byzantine castle set on a spectacular headland, and even natural hot springs by the beach.
Your accommodation on Kythnos is authentically Cycladic with beautiful white stone walls and a central courtyard to bask in the Greek sunshine. You have the option to stay in traditional Greek studios on Kythnos, please quote W06KY for prices.
Your last night in spent in the port town of Lavrio on the mainland. Located just 150m from a lovely sandy beach, your beautiful hotel has an outdoor pool and poolside restaurant for you to enjoy. You can also visit the nearby Poseidon temple during your stay in Lavrio.
La Gomera is the second smallest Canary island and remains a largely undiscovered destination. It’s a stunning island with at least 50 dramatic deep cut barrancos that slice through the landscape from 1500 metres altitude down to the sea.
The island is indeed a walkers paradise offering lush vegetation, impressive landscapes, fantastic path networks and beautiful mountain villages with outstanding views. It is home to Garajonay National Park which was declared a World Heritage site by Unesco in 1986.
Our guided walking tour takes you on a spectacular journey through the island, walking from village to village with baggage transferred throughout.
We use a mix of small hotels and apartments located in lovely villages along the way and have dinner in local restaurants so you are immersed in the culture and traditions of the friendly Gomeran people.
I had an amazing time on this 9-day Italy trip! The itinerary was very well organized, covering so many highlights — from Rome’s Colosseum to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Positano, Sorrento, and Capri. It’s definitely an active trip with lots of walking, but such a great way to see and experience so much in a short time. The hotels were functional and well located, with the last one in Sorrento being especially beautiful with its sea views.
The absolute highlight, though, was our tour guide, Alessia. She went above and beyond every single day — knowledgeable, organized, enthusiastic, and always available if anyone needed something. You could tell she truly cared about making sure everyone had the best experience. The group itself was great, and thanks to Alessia, everything felt seamless and fun.
Highly recommend this trip if you want to see the highlights of Italy with a fantastic guide leading the way!
On this self-guided, hotel-to-hotel walking holiday, you'll explore the beautifully tranquil Langhe region of Piedmont, a gastronomic gem quietly tucked into Italy's north-western corner. Recently recognised by UNESCO, the countryside is a glorious mix of gently rippling, wave-shaped hills cloaked by layers of vines, sunflowers and oak forests, crowned with honey-hued hamlets and majestic Savoy castles.

Head deep into the Albanian Alps to hike a collection of the most scenic trails in what has been called ‘Europe’s last true wilderness’. Here, natural beauty dazzles at every turn − Alpine valleys, glacial lakes, soaring peaks – and we have plenty of time for culture too, including village stays and explorations of Tirana, Krujë, Berat, plus the Ottoman town of Pizren in Kosovo. If you’re looking for wild walks, cultural immersion, and plenty of tales to take home, this trip is for you.
Adrift from mainland Spain, the Canary Islands form a dramatic archipelago, each offering a unique landscape to explore on foot. On this adventure, we hike two of the most scenic, led by a guide who knows all the best trails. Starting in Tenerife, you’ll marvel at volcanic-sand beaches, mighty peaks and otherworldly rock formations. Then, catch the ferry – keeping your eyes peeled for playful dolphins – to tranquil La Gomera. Nicknamed the Walker’s Island, it’s laced with extensive trails through subtropical rainforest and scenes of raw, untamed beauty.
The Italian Riviera still has secrets to share… if you know where to go. One of them is seaside Chiavari, ideally placed between Genoa and the Cinque Terre. From this base, we embark on a well-balanced blend of scenic walks, cultural landmarks and exquisite regional cuisine. You’ll sip wine with world-renowned producers, master pasta and pesto with professional chefs, and hike glorious trails. A free day to visit the Cinque Terre will be a must for most, while the pleasure of staying away from the tourists allows you to enjoy the Italian Riviera in peace.
Go deeper into the Picos de Europa than ever before, hiking rugged mountains watched over by golden eagles and griffon vultures and staying in the heart of an authentic mountain town. Guided by an expert tour leader, we trek through limestone peaks and lush valleys, summiting mountains to gaze over the oldest national park in Spain. Our hotel in Arenas de Cabrales is in the perfect spot to explore the town, while our friendly hosts and tour leader can show us the local people’s favourite restaurants and bars.
Most departures of this adventure are rated Activity Level 3 (Moderate). However, if you want to test yourself, join one of our Activity Level 5 (Challenging) departures. See the Itinerary and Dates & Prices tab for more details.
The Dodecanese trio of Rhodes, Symi and Tilos encompass everything that people love about the Greek islands: picturesque hikes, towns shaped through the centuries, and, of course, a deep love for food and wine. Guided by an expert tour leader, we explore it all on a well-balanced hiking adventure, taking gentle coastal and in-land trials and going deep into the local culture. There’s also time for a guided wine-tasting session, a barbecue on a traditional kaiki cruise, and plenty of moments to relax on the beach or choose your own adventure.
Hike the GR20 in Corsica, one of the most beautiful mountain treks in the world. Over 13 days, we hike 110mi (180km) in mountainous terrain, rising from the Mediterranean Sea to granite peaks topping 8,530ft (2,600m). Rather than take the classic north-to-south route, we head in the opposite direction, with the sun on our backs, a quieter trail, and the toughest legs at the end of the trip. You won’t be doing it alone either. The adventure is guided by an experienced International Mountain Leader with expert knowledge on the route and you’ll be part of a small group of like-minded hikers ready with words of encouragement.
