Never take guides but this time Nepali government forced me to. Me and my colleague from another realm was given experienced commander Kumar with many extraordinary skills including searching, tracking, pathfinding. When you barely see some movement in the forest he already knows this is gray langur female 10 years old, 12 kg, well fed with one infant posing no threat to us. Explore the World Heritage Site of Borobudur Temple & trek through the striking landscapes of East Java where rugged volcanoes soar above the surrounding jungle. Java is an island of forested volcanoes rising between the Indian Ocean and the Java Sea. This adventure reveals both its beauty and depth, from the serene grandeur of Borobudur Temple, the world’s largest Buddhist monument, to the misty peaks of Mount Arjuna and Mount Bromo.
Begin in Yogyakarta, Java’s cultural capital, where royal palaces and artist workshops preserve centuries of Javanese tradition. Here, explore Borobudur, a UNESCO World Heritage site built in the 9th century. Carved from volcanic stone, its nine terraces are designed to represent the path to enlightenment.
Travel east by scenic train to Malang, gateway to Java’s highlands, where fertile volcanic soil support plantations of tea, coffee, and clove. From here, spend three days trekking through mountain forests of pine, acacia and casuarina, and farmland where villagers cultivate vegetables, potatoes and corn on the fertile slopes. Climb the twin volcanoes of Mount Arjuna (3,339m/10,955 ft) and Mount Welirang (3,185m/10,449 ft) on consecutive days, with nights spent camping beneath the stars.
Continue to Lawang, with it's tea filled hillsides, before your final hike up Mount Penanjaken (2,770m/9,088 ft), to take in the glorious vistas of Mount Bromo and the surrounding volcanoes at sunrise. Concluding in Denpasar, you can easily extend your time to relax in tropical Bali.

Being very intuitive, in addition to the hikes, temples and ancient cities visited in our itinerary, he also further customized our trip to include additional activities he knew we would both enjoy as wildlife and photo enthusiasts. Overall, this was an incredible experience and very satisfied that we used World Expeditions to organize this trip.
Oliver was an amazing and attentive tour guide. He was able to swap around our itinerary to ensure that we didn't miss out on attractions after string winds caused the Govt to close buildings fir 2 days of our trip.
The Great Wall is SO impressive and photos do not do it justice! On this trip you visit parts of the wall where you have it to yourself for most of the day. This was a major highlight!
This tour hit all the right notes for us. We wanted something that showed us different parts of Thailand without being too intense or expensive. The days were full but never overwhelming. We saw big landmarks like the Grand Palace and White Temple but also had time for small experiences, like sipping coffee at a local cafe in Chiang Mai or watching the sunset from the beach in Phuket.
The flights between cities made travel easy and we were always met on time. Having a guide in each place helped us understand the history and customs better and they answered every question we had.
We’re not “tour people,” usually, but this one made things simple. It was structured but with enough flexibility. If you’re thinking about Thailand and want a little adventure without the stress of planning I’d definitely recommend this tour.
