Arturo was a fantastic leader and guide. Knowledgable, helpful, caring, experienced and amusing. This was my 11th Explore holiday and Arturo is up there with the best guides. The porters and cooks are heroes - we were very happy to tip them generously. The itinerary was perfect, though no one should underestimate the challenge of around ten hours walking on day three. Cusco hotel staff were fine but the layout around a central atrium means the rooms are very noisy. The hotel near Machu Picchu was lovely but the staff were rude, unhelpful and disinterested. Overall I’d fully recommend this trip - but be sure to get into shape beforehand and consider your kit carefully.

Join this fascinating twelve-day tour starting from Yunnan province in China all the way to Vientiane, the capital of Laos and finishing back in Guangzhou city in China. Immerse yourself in tea plantations hiking Nannuo Mountain, experience life in local villages and indulge yourself with the flavour and aroma of Pu'er tea. In Laos explore Luang Prabang, the Jewel of the Mekong and Vientiane on the banks of the Mekong River. End the tour in the sprawling port city of Guangzhou strolling by the Pearl River.
I've seen impressive waterfalls and scenery before but this takes it to a whole new level. When you think you've seen it all you turn a corner and get a whole new perspective. You get to see and experience different things everyday. With plenty of free days that you can organise yourself or fill with the optionals you can really bulk out this holiday and make it packed with new experiences which you may have not found by yourself. I've not had a minute spare as always an optional available to fill any free time which is what I chose to do. The Iguazu falls is a must experience! The views on the walk are simply breathtaking then your breath gets taken in a whole new way on the boat ride into the base of the Devil's throat.
A wonderful trip with a great group. Nick the leader was great, extremely informative both about his country but also with his detailed briefings prior to every ride. The trip was well run and a perfect blend of culture, history and enjoyable cycling.
The cycling is reasonably challenging at times and a level of fitness and experience on roads with heavy traffic is needed. It is hilly with some stiff climbs made more so by the hot temperatures we experienced in July. The provided mountain bikes where OK but would be much improved with semi slick tires.
Accommodation and the food in particular was memorable, the later far exceeding expectations.
A great and very enjoyable trip with a very good guide / tour leader
(Daniel). Such varied culture, food and scenery too. I felt like I learned
and saw a lot. My one recommendation would be to make sure you read the trip
notes carefully before you go / book. You cover a lot of ground (long
distances) at times in order to and pack everything in. So there are some
long travel days and plenty of early starts. Loved it.
Excellent tour, well managed, mainly flat, but some challenging downhill rides. plenty of other sites and variety, would have liked more time on the cruise.
Explore the highlights of Scandinavia before travelling south into the Baltic states on this epic 32-day adventure through northern Europe. As well as hitting the hubs of Oslo, Helsinki and Stockholm, discover the lesser-known but no less fascinating cities of Riga and Klaipeda, as well as Aukstaitijia and Curonian Spit national parks. The countries Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are a few of the continent’s last true undiscovered secrets – the fairy-tale turrets and cobbled lanes of old Tallinn, the baroque flair of Vilnius and the poignant history of Soviet occupation are not to be missed. This really is a one-of-a-kind itinerary.

If you’re looking for a Central American thrill, take on an eight-day active adventure through one of the world's greenest countries. Dive into Costa Rica’s wilderness and cascade down the rapids of Pacuare River in a raft, hike misty jungle trails in the Monteverde Cloud Forest and cycle along the coastline of Puerto Viejo. With plenty of free time to customise your adventure depending on your interests, you might opt to surf the Caribbean waves in palm-fringed beach towns or go stand up paddleboarding on Lake Arenal. Costa Rica is the perfect place for wildlife lovers (how many sloths can you spot?), active adventurers and those seeking a natural paradise.
This was a very well organised and enjoyable tour and through the guides and suppprt crew we got a really good feel for each country and its people customs history and food.
The tour leader Doan was excellent throughout and always ready to help us with little things like buying food in the markets or talking and joking with locals.
We felt really immersed in the local culture but also nicely protected from the sometimes hot and humid weather by our lovely air conditioned van and great accommodation choices!
It has been a FANTASTIC trip. First of all because we have enjoyed a lot of the country, the food, the kindness of the people, extraordinary with us. And second, because of the great quality of the work you have done. We could not be better taken care of! The hotels were fabulous, and everything has been easy. The scheduled trips always on time at the airport and the hotel, and showing themselves charming with us. In addition to the guides, great professionals, with whom we have enjoyed a lot (All of them have been fantastic, but I would like to emphasize to Mauricio, the guide who picked us up in Arequipa and accompanied us through the Colca Valley.
They say it’s the tour leader who makes or breaks a trip, and for me, this couldn’t be truer. Luis Flores brought this whirlwind adventure to life with his warmth, kindness, passion for his country, and enduring patience—all matched by his brilliant, boyish sense of humour, which was a bonus. Behind the company logo is a man of immense grace and generosity—a true superstar in countless subtle ways. He’s not just someone who leads you through a place but someone who helps you connect with its soul and its people.
This trip was a vibrant tapestry of breathtaking sights, iconic landmarks, and mouthwateringly delicious cuisine (with portions that were often humongous—wear stretchy trousers!). Add to that the genuine, heartwarming hospitality of the people we met, and it was an experience like no other.
The long, scenic drives became opportunities to daydream out the window, snooze in readiness for the next adventure (or “meditate,” as Luis fondly called these sleepy and quiet moments), or share conversations that added even more richness to the journey—or, occasionally, for me to ask, “Are we nearly there?”
Was it perfect? No. Could some things have been better? Yes, of course. But I came hoping for an authentic, enriching experience—and that’s precisely what I got.
If you’re considering this trip, come with an open mind and heart and be ready to let the magic unfold. Drink in the numerous sensorial moments of wonder. There are so many “wow, wow, wow” moments—turning a corner and seeing something genuinely magnificent alongside enchanting flora and fauna (sadly, no jaguars made an appearance). For me, this was a genuinely enriching and transformative journey.
In all honesty, I was hesitant to book after a really disappointing experience with an Explore guide earlier this year. It felt like a huge risk to trust you again, especially since this was a 2-week trip and tour leaders are beyond your control. But I’m so glad I did and am deeply grateful for the experience.
