The tour manager was awesome and took such good care of us!! I would give him 11 stars out of 10!! I loved everything that we did but my favorite thing I think was the cooking class and dinner, it was so fun.
Tour manager was the best. This was my fifth tour with Collette and this was the best. Of course it was hard not to love Greece, its beauty, the food, and of course the people. Amanda Phillip’s went above and beyond throughout the entire tour. She is knowledgeable, funny, kind, knows everyone in the hotels, restaurants and shops. Gave great recommendations for where to go and or eat during free time. She helped people with the WhatsApp and some with their tour extension information. She created an atmosphere of respect and kindness which made the entire group of 39 diverse people became one big happy family. Only down side was the location of the final day. Hotel was located in the middle of no where and the buffet dinner was awful. Would have been better if the hotel was closed to attractions we were left with a wasted day. Providing a shuttle into the city may have helped. I also think that Collette should call you to walk through the air flights. Some people are willing to pay more for direct flights but are not given options.
The entire tour was enjoyable. If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be the Greek ruins in Agrigento. The history and construction information was really great.
The tour manager was wonderful and we saw some very cool off the beaten path sites. It was a great tour with a good balance of activity and free time.
I loved all the beautiful scenery, and the food was good. No, it was great. Part of my favorite experiences were the agriculture experiences getting to see the different vineyards and the olive groves and the citrus groves and going to the two farms that we went to that that was really great. The vineyard was very interesting hearing about their wine operation. It was interesting watching them make fresh ricotta cheese at the first farm. At the second farm we visited, we watched them make fresh mozzarella cheese, which was also very good, but probably my most favorite part is when we got to Pompeii. When we first arrived, and I saw scaffolding on the side of what it looked to be some kind of structure where they were doing restoration work I didn’t realize what I was looking at until we literally walked into the park and realized that what we were seeing was the former city of Pompeii. It took my breath away I was very overwhelmed by the size and just touched me very emotionally. It just was hard to fathom that an entire city had disappeared from a volcanic eruption, and they have been able to recover a large portion of it and just the structure itself, but they have been able to recover and share it. It was amazing.
It was my first trip to Italy, and a wonderful and fascinating introduction to a beautiful and historically significant region of the world. Our guides and tours were so enjoyable, the free time at each destination, and at the hotel for the evening were a fun part of every day. Such a well-planned tour, with some great special access and some fun surprises along the way, we will definitely use Collette travel again. One of the many unforgettable moments of the trip was my first-ever in-person sight of the Coliseum, it brought me to tears.
