Essential Travel Guides for Touring Dubai
Explore Dubai with comprehensive travel guides covering when to go, how long to stay, what to do, and where to explore across the country.

Dubai is where cultural traditions meld harmoniously with a sense of competitive modernity that continues to impress the world. Lightning-fast hyperloop trains, the record-breaking Burj Khalifa, and life-sized robocops are just some of the futuristic feats this superlative-craving city has come up with. All of these are set amidst a backdrop of a vast desert where camels and Bedouin families still roam. For travelers looking for a unique experience, the possibilities are endless. Take to the skies on a hot air balloon, go theme-park hopping, or roam the deserts on a 4x4, there’s always something exciting to do if you know where to look. Here are some of the twenty best things to do in Dubai.

Dubai is one of the most advanced cities in the world located in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Besides admiring its ultramodern buildings and enjoying great entertainment, you can visit a desert, swim in the Persian Gulf and ski in one day. Also, Dubai is one of the best places in the world for buying luxury goods because of significant savings. Since the city is a great holiday destination, you should know the best time to visit Dubai.

A desert safari in Dubai is a chance to experience the unforgettable landscape of the Arabian Peninsula and learn about the nomads who once inhabited it. While the highlight of the trip is undoubtedly seeing the vast, otherworldly desert, you’ll also have plenty of fun on dune drives and trying adventure sports like sandboarding. You may even catch a glimpse of rare native wildlife like the Arabian white oryx. It’s no wonder that desert safaris have become the number one thing to do in Dubai.
Less than an hour from the futuristic skyscrapers of Dubai is the windblown Arabian desert. Desert safaris involve being taken to a specific area of this desert such as Al Awir, which is about thirty minutes’ drive from the city, or Al Lahbab, which is around 50 km from Dubai and boasts huge, 91-meter-high dunes. Slightly further away is the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, the first national park in the United Arab Emirates. Desert safaris are allowed here too — and the good news is that the entrance fee goes towards conservation efforts in the park, meaning you’ll be giving back while having fun.

With tranquil beaches and desert sunsets setting the scene, paired with sumptuous hotel suites and romantic meals in world-class restaurants, Dubai makes for a great honeymoon destination regardless of your budget. Here we give you the lowdown on all you need to know to organize your Dubai honeymoon!

Dubai today is virtually unrecognisable from the sleepy fishing village that it was just 200 years ago. The oil boom of the 1960s led to astronomical levels of investment and development, which put the city firmly on both the business and tourism map in just 50 years. While the global business centres, ultra-luxurious hotels and fine beaches are certainly at the forefront of Dubai's global image, the city's proud history as a busy port has not been lost entirely. In fact, a traditional dhow cruise in Dubai is a highlight for many visitors and is an excellent way of bridging old-world Dubai with its modern-day incarnation.

When it comes to adrenaline-pumping activities, Dubai doesn't fall short. The city has the perfect formula for high-octane adventures and daredevil thrills — a diverse topography of deserts and seas combined with a knack for record-breaking technology. The result is a perfect playground for adrenaline-junkies and a myriad of heart-racing diversions in the sand, sea, and sky. Whether you’re looking for unique adventures in Dubai or a place to let loose, this city of superlatives will never disappoint.

Need 1 more day in Rome for st Peter's Basilica and the pantheon. Rest was really good.
The include guided tours are informative as they are conducted by local guides. The optional experiences were also well chosen by Insight.
I walked with a cane (awaiting a knee replacement within 2 weeks after the trip. Vivian and the group of travelers were very patient with me. I would suggest this trip for the healthier individuals. Sites were beautiful, but all the walking is a challenge if handicapped. I was very fortunate to be with our special group of 24 and having Vivian as our tour guide! Overall it was a wonderful trip!!!
The most beautiful country I have ever visited. I highly recommend this trip as it captures everything and beyond that Italy has to offer.
The travel director and driver made it a wonderful trip
"Travel Matters" excursions are often just glorified shopping trips. Especially frustrating was going to a "oil/scent" shop for 2 hours
