Essential Travel Guides for Touring Budapest
Explore Budapest with comprehensive travel guides covering when to go, how long to stay, what to do, and where to explore across the country.

Hungary sits in the middle of the European continent, juggling the influences of both western Europe and Russia. In a way, it’s this confluence that has led to the formation of a unique Hungarian identity – one that is mixed with ancient Hapsburgian grandeur, and pure Russian grit. The country is exotic to look at – a marvelous mixture of the modern and the ancient, and the people are exceptionally friendly.
You must definitely visit the country in order to experience the unique culture, one that has been molded by Western Europe and the Central Asian Steppe. There are dozens of cities for you to explore, and countless palaces to see. The only thing you have to do is find out what is the best time to visit Hungary, and you’re good to go.

Straddling the crossroads of Central Europe, Hungary steps up its charm one church at a time — from the Gothic Matthias Church in Budapest to the St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral Basilica in Pecs. Then there are its thermal spas, like the famous cave bath of Miskolctapolca and Mako's architecturally dazzling Hagymatikum Bath, stunning lake towns, and vineyards that produce Hungary’s finest wines. From relaxing in a bath and cycling around Lake Velence to tasting Villany’s excellent wines and hiking in Bukk National Park, you’ll love the unique experiences that this country has to offer to its visitors. Need 1 more day in Rome for st Peter's Basilica and the pantheon. Rest was really good.
The include guided tours are informative as they are conducted by local guides. The optional experiences were also well chosen by Insight.
I walked with a cane (awaiting a knee replacement within 2 weeks after the trip. Vivian and the group of travelers were very patient with me. I would suggest this trip for the healthier individuals. Sites were beautiful, but all the walking is a challenge if handicapped. I was very fortunate to be with our special group of 24 and having Vivian as our tour guide! Overall it was a wonderful trip!!!
The most beautiful country I have ever visited. I highly recommend this trip as it captures everything and beyond that Italy has to offer.
The travel director and driver made it a wonderful trip
"Travel Matters" excursions are often just glorified shopping trips. Especially frustrating was going to a "oil/scent" shop for 2 hours
