Known as a small mountainous country, intrepid travelers will have a blast cycling through the Albanian terrains. Albania is a great destination for cycling tours, especially around the western border near Macedonia, and heading down south—which is exactly the route you’ll follow during these 10 days, before making a full round loop back to Tirana (where it all starts and ends). Veering down toward Greece’s direction, this adventure nears the border of Macedonia at Lake Ohrid, leaving behind new country terrains after your third day of biking. You can even spot Corfu Island in the distance from Saranda. Expect loads of trails up and down mountains and plateaus (and coastline vistas from day eight onward), covering 956 kilometers in total. The most difficult day is nine, reaching elevations of 1,500 meters within Llogara National Park. For this tour, being an experienced cyclist or biker with good fitness levels is recommended.
