The BEST thing about the entire tour was the tour guide and the organization. Thanks to Collette, we were never left wondering what we were doing next!! I felt safe and cared for. My favorite memorable experience was seeing newly cannonized St. Carlo, in Assissi.

I just love everything about the History of Rome. I love Vatican Square, the artifacts, history of the apostles and most of all to Carry the cross all the way inside the Vatican cathedral.

Fast paced and organised, we saw so much on the way it was the only way to go! Tour director was very informative and the hotels we stayed at were great.

This itinerary ended up being a fantastic first experience of Italy. It gave me a real sense of how different each region feels, both in history and personality. Traveling in winter honestly worked in our favor. The cooler weather and light rain were easy to handle, and the smaller crowds made every stop feel calmer and more enjoyable. The order of cities fit the season well, and the time on the coach gave us a chance to recharge before the next visit. The experiences built around local farms, vineyards, and regional food traditions added something special. And the local guides—true experts in their cities, museums, and archeological sites—made everything come alive. They had a way of weaving together history, culture, and story that made even familiar places feel new. Pompeii was the unforgettable highlight for us, but every guided experience felt thoughtfully chosen. I was also surprised by how much the warmth of our travel organizer shaped the trip. She brought the whole group together, and by the end we had connections that felt genuinely meaningful. For anyone considering this itinerary, the “difficult” activity rating is accurate. There is a lot of walking, hills, steps, and long staircases. It was manageable, and many sites offered alternate options, but it’s worth knowing that some days reach 5–10 miles on foot. The pace was quick, but winter meant earlier dinners and quieter evenings, which gave us more free time than expected. We also loved catching the holiday markets toward the end. In winter, I’d maybe reshuffle the order of cities so those markets land at a more central point in the trip, especially since Capri and the Amalfi Coast are mostly closed for the season. Overall, I fully recommend this itinerary. It helped us figure out exactly which cities we want to return to, and it gave us the kind of memories you carry for a long time. * I would advise a note on clothing to be more specific by season on what can and can't be worn or taken to some venues like the Vatican. A weather review with rain/cold recommendations would have made packing easier too.
