One family, two hiking paces

Our family of four quickly split into two different hiking paces, fast and slow, on this trip. Jacqueline was incredibly patient and supportive with the altitude challenged hiker, and allowed the rest of the group to feel less guilty about charging ahead at a faster pace. Jacqueline’s gentle support allowed everyone to have a great trip at their own speed. Once we got to Agua Caliente, our friends and co-travelers upgraded to the InkaTerra hotel and invited us for dinner. We recommend this hotel for your final night of the trip.

Stellar Service, Stunning Views

Pepe (main guide) and Yhon (assistant guide) were highly professional, helpful, patient, and informative. They provided a wealth of information about the region’s history, culture, and natural landscape. Not only that, they were very extremely attentive to our needs and safety, such as by constantly looking out for signs of altitude sickness and accompanying both the front and back of the pack. The chef and the assistant cooks provided us with fantastic meals, many of which included local delicacies — always adjusted to dietary needs (vegetarian in our case). Last but not least, the porters never disappointed and operated smoothly even in moments of staffing shortage. All in all, terrific service with a great group in a beautiful landscape that stunningly transitions from an alpine to forest biome, culminating in the beautiful and unforgettable sight of Machu Picchu. Would absolutely recommend this company and their guides!

A walk in the clouds

Edy, our lead tour guide, was exceptional in providing information about the trail and Inca culture. His passion and knowledge made it feel like we were traveling with an Inca warrior who wanted to share his culture with us. Maribel, the assistant tour guide and only female in a crew of about 70 persons, shared her love for the Inca culture by adding distinct touches to the narrative and campsite decorations. The entire team was professional, efficient and caring. No question that they are the best group to lead your personal Inca experience.

Gary and crew were amazing

Our guide Gary was very informative and very fun. He did a great job of making sure our crew was taken care of at all points during the trip. Our porters were outstanding. They had everything ready for us when we needed it. They really humbled our crew with their speed, hard work and attention to detail to certain members of our group who had dietary restrictions. To be in the wild and have all the amenities that we did was truly astonishing. If I ever do this trip again, I will go with this very company and their excellent team. I have already recommended them to many of my friends.

Classic 4D/3N Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

This trip was absolutely amazing and exceeded my expectations. Our tour guides, Pepe and Gilbert, were available at every moment, extremely knowledgeable, and passionate about providing a great experience for all the hikers. The porters are basically superhuman and extremely committed to ensuring the success of the trip. Our head chef, Balbino, delivered the most decadent, multi-course meals I’ve ever had, let alone in the middle of the Peruvian Andes.

Inca Trail: Amazing four day hike to Machu Picchu!

Our trip was amazing! My husband, three kids (16, 13, 11) and I had no idea what to expect and we were blown away with the entire experience. Our guide Elvis was incredible! He was so informative about Inca culture, he was a great communicator with expectations and daily schedules and he was just an overall wonderful guy. The hikes were beautiful, the leadership/porters were outstanding and our chef Danielle made the most delicious meals. The meals were more than delicious and filling after a long day of hiking. We were impressed by the amount, variety and complexity of the food that was served on the trail. Danielle could easily be working in an upscale restaurant. Everything about our trip awesome! We will definitely be traveling with this travel operator again and I have already recommended this company, Elvis and Danielle to many friends.

Majestic Breathtaking Views and an Amazing Staff

Recommend hiking the Inca Hike with this local travel specialist 100%!! Our guides, Joyce and Melky did an incredible job leading our group. They communicated every aspect of the trip effectively and got to know everyone at a personal level. Their knowledge of the Inca and Quecha people as well as their knowledge of the geology of the region is extensive. Sharing their own stories and knowledge with group made this trip a wonderful learning experience. Chef Agusto and his assistant Gabriel provided use with amazing meals using fresh local ingredients. Considering every single thing has to be hauled in and out by porters, it’s admirable what they are able to create. The chef even “baked” a cake for a birthday girl in the group. The porters led by Juvenal hauled hundreds of pounds of food, tents, mattresses, tables, chairs, cooking gear, etc…including our personal gear always with a smile. The porters did the most difficult and exhausting work but were still eager to assist with anything they could do to make our trip more enjoyable. They deserve a huge thanks. I hope to use this agency again for another Peru hiking adventure.

Fantastic once in a lifetime trip to Machu Picchu

We were on the 4 day Inca Trail hike with our guides Pepe, Toro & Sarah. From the briefing in Cusco the night before the trek we felt completely safe and looked after. All 3 guides made sure everybody in the group was able to trek at their own speed and didn't feel rushed (something I had been worried about before the trip, I needn't have worried!!). They had enthusiasm and energy to motivate the group from the first morning and we had plenty of stops along the way to hear information about the Incas, Machu Picchu and the local population. The chef was outstanding, with every meal being too much for us to eat! and really high quality (fried fish, salads, cerviche, pastas, pizzas, stir fried vegetables, rice, tortillas, fruit) as well as fruit and snacks for the trek each day. They even baked a birthday cake for one of our group on day 2!!! The guides arranged a social moment on Day 2 for us where all of the porters introduced themselves to us and vice versa which was really special. They work so hard (not just carrying packs but cooking/cleaning/setting up tents and packing away/providing tea and washbowls) and always had smiles on their faces. On Day 4, the team made sure we were one of the first groups up early and at the entrance gate (under shelter) to start the last hike to Machu Picchu sun gate which gave us space to take photos and also to enjoy a good 2 hour tour of Machu Picchu itself.... honestly, you will get lost in Pepe's passion for the history of such a special place to the country and people. If your thinking of booking, I wouldn't hesitate to choose this local travel specialist again .... do it !!! :-)

EPIC Adventure

This was an absolutely amazzzing adventure to Machu Picchu!  The entire 2 day trek was incredible from start to finish, simply extraordinary.  Our guides Juan Jose and Manolo were the Best of the Best!  They were always attentive to how we were doing and always super encouraging.  JJ's love of his homeland Peru and his knowledge and passion for Machu Piccho was impressive and conveyed with deep reverence.  We felt the magic. There was an easy camaraderie with JJ and Manolo and many laughs along the way.  The head cook Balbino impressed us with his culinary creations!  The meals were suberb! And the vistas along the way were stunning and of breathtaking beauty! My deep appreciation...thank you JJ, Manolo, and Balbino for creating memories for everyone in our group that are indelibly ingrained for a lifetime!
