Designed for experienced travelers and seniors with a spirit of adventure, this eight-day polar cruise sets out from Longyearbyen and winds through Norway’s remote Svalbard archipelago. Each day brings new marvels: spot polar bears prowling the pack ice, watch walruses lounge on the shore, and witness whales and millions of seabirds in their natural habitat. Guided excursions reveal abandoned mining settlements and the stark beauty of Monacobreen’s glaciers. With all accommodations, meals, and transport included, you’ll explore the Arctic in comfort and safety. The tour’s unique selling point is its exceptional access to diverse Arctic wildlife and landscapes, offering an immersive experience in one of the world’s last true wildernesses.

day 1Longyearbyen

Welcome to Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago which lies midway between continental Norway and the North Pole! Fly into Svalbard Airport, 5kms from Longyearbyen, the capital of Svalbard. Make your way to our expedition cruise ship, the Ocean Albatros, which is docked in the port of Longyearbyen.
Board the ship and settle in. The Expedition leader will provide a safety briefing as well as information about the daily routine onboard. Then head onto the outer deck to enjoy a glass of champagne as we leave civilisation behind and our Arctic Adventure commences.
FLIGHTS TO / FROM OSLO TO LONGYEARBYEN:
For departures in 2026 an optional transfer package is available to book 11 months prior to departure. This includes flights between Oslo - Longyearbyen - Oslo and a group transfer between Longyearbyen Airport and the vessel.
In 2027 return flights Oslo - Longyearbyen - Oslo and a group transfer between Longyearbyen Airport and the vessel are included in the cost of the tour.

The booking porocess was easy, and customer service was responsive. I contacted 4 companies about the tour I was interested in. Two of the companies I contacted didn't answer me at all. One of them was basically a chatbot that said "do it yourself." Only bookmundi had human agents to help.
