Itinerary
Western Australia’s natural beauty shines on the "Perth to Margaret River – 3 days" group tour. Departing from Perth, this easy-paced trip whisks you through Busselton’s charming streets, Mammoth Cave’s ancient fossils, and the towering Boranup Karri Forest. Sample boutique wines, enjoy chocolate and cheese tastings, and keep an eye out for kangaroos and whales from the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. With guided sightseeing, comfortable hotels, and local gourmet treats, this tour is ideal for seniors and experienced travelers looking to experience the region’s diverse landscapes and flavors—the unique highlight being the seamless blend of culinary delights and stunning nature in just three days.
day 1 - Perth to Margaret River
Perth - Mandurah - Bunbury - Busselton - Margaret River. Our adventure begins in Perth, where we meet our tour guide and fellow travellers before embarking on a scenic drive south to Mandurah, a charming seaside town where we’ll stop for coffee at a café by the foreshore.
Next, we continue to Bunbury. Here we can browse handcrafted local hardwood furniture and art, learning about the region’s timber and logging history. From there, we head to Busselton, home to the longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere. There is free time to explore this picturesque coastal slice of Western Australia.
Afterwards, indulge in a Margaret River chocolate tasting, sampling handmade truffles and the famous "Chokka the chocolate Quokka". These chocolate treats are made in the shape of a Quokka, a small marsupial native to Australia.
In the afternoon, we visit a local family farm for a real local experience, spotting Western Grey Kangaroos in their natural habitat. Before settling into our accommodation in Margaret River, we take a scenic drive along the coast, enjoying stunning views of world-class surf breaks. The evening is yours to relax and socialise with your new travel companions over dinner and drinks.
Please note: You must inform us at time of booking or well in advance of your tour where you will be staying in Perth prior to your tour. This is so we can arrange pick up for you on day 1. Your pick up time will be communicated to you a few days before your tour, it will usually be around 7:00 - 7:20.
day 2 - Margaret River Exploration
Margaret River - Mammoth Cave - Hamelin Bay - Augusta - Margaret River. Today, we’ll explore the Margaret River region further. One of our stops today will be Mammoth Cave, where you can see the fossilized remains of extinct mega-fauna including the thylacine and the giant marsupial Zygomaturus. We also explore the awe-inspiring Boranup Karri Forest with its towering trees, some of which are more than 65 metres in height. At Hamelin Bay, we’ll encounter stingrays in the shallow waters, and visit Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet. Keep your eyes peeled for blue, southern right and humpback whales breaching out to sea. Along the way, we’ll pass through the coastal town of Augusta with views of the Blackwood River. And you will enjoy some free time to further explore Margaret River at your own pace.
The evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure, perhaps exploring the local restaurants and bars in Margaret River, with recommendations from your tour guide.
day 3 - Margaret River Wine & Olive Oil Tour
Margaret River - Perth. Today we are exploring the culinary side of Margaret River. After breakfast, we’ll indulge in a boutique winery experience at either Redgate or Brown Hill, both family-owned and operated, with an incredible range of award-winning wines. Next, we’ll enjoy a cheese and wine pairing, matching Camembert and Vintage Cheddars from the Margaret River Dairy Co. with some of our favourite boutique wines.
Later, we’ll experience the subtle flavours of the region’s famous extra virgin olive oils, including unique citrus-pressed oils and sensational-infused varieties. We’ll also try a range of condiments and balsamics. After a relaxing lunch, accompanied by a glass of local beer or wine, we’ll begin our journey back to Perth.
Along the way, we’ll make one or two stops to stretch our legs or enjoy a coffee. We’ll arrive in Perth between 18:00 - 18:30 for hotel drop-offs. You may want to connect with your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner and drinks to wrap up a wonderful experience in one of Australia’s favourite corners, before your departure.
Please note: You will be dropped at a Perth hotel of your choosing. Unfortunately, we cannot drop guests in Fremantle.
