Reykjavik. Welcome to Iceland and the start of your Northern Lights adventure! Your transfer to your accommodation is by Flybus shuttle.
day - 2 City Tour & Hot Springs
Reykjavik - Borgarfjorour Valley - Borgarnes. This morning we enjoy a Reykjavik city tour before visiting Borgarfjorour valley. Climb the Grabrok volcano crater and warm up at Deildartunguhver hot spring, before heading to Hraunfossar, with waterfalls that pour from beneath a wide lava field. Tonight we go in search of the Northern Lights.
day - 3 Mountains & Lights
Borgarnes - Snaefellsnes Peninsula - Breidafjordur fjord cruise - Borgarnes. Today we explore the Snaellsnes Peninsula, a charming fishing town of Stykkishólmur and enjoy a lunchtime cruise on the Breidafjördur fjord. Naturally, once darkness falls, we are out chasing the Northern Lights.
day - 4 Golden Circle & Horses
Borgarnes - Golden Circle - Selfoss. This morning we travel to Thingvellir National Park and to Gullfoss “the golden falls“. Look out for the hot springs and steam from the Geysir geothermal fields as we arrive. When we get to Geysir, we visit the restaurant and taste some local cuisine. Lastly today we visit a geothermal greenhouse.
day - 5 Black Lava Beach
Hella - Eyjafjallajökull - Kirkjubaejarklaustur. Our first stop is at the Eyjafjallajökull Information Centre where we learn about how people live next to a glacier and an active volcano and the famous eruption of 2010. Also on today’s agenda is a visit to a folk museum, the waterfall of Skógafoss, and black lava beach at Reynisfjara beach in South Iceland.
day - 6 Vatnajökull NP
Kirkjubaejarklaustur - Jökulsárlón - Kirkjubaejarklaustur Today's program is all about glaciers, ice and icebergs. First Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon which is filled with floating icebergs - keep an eye out for seals swimming in the freezing Arctic waters. Afternoon visit to a tiny turf church and Vatnajökull National Park, with Iceland’s highest mountains and Europe's largest glacier.
day - 7 Lava Fields & Lagoon
Kirkjubaejarklaustur - Vik - Reykjavík. This morning we head across the Laki lava field to the village of Vik. We take a stroll on the black lava at Reynisfjara beach, explore Seljalandsfoss waterfall before returning to Reykjavik. This evening we head to the famous Blue Lagoon for a relaxing soak, and one last look for the Northern Lights.
day - 8 Reykjavik
Today our Northern Lights Icelandic experience comes to an end with included FlyBus transfer to Keflavik Airport.
